HARD SCIENCE VS. SOFT SKILLS• Chinese immigrants in many foreign countries

have tended to put their faith in hard science and strict disciplines.

• Students in the hard sciences being better disciplined generally and more willing to accept authority.

• The student rebellions in the 1960s and early 1970s in Europe were largely concentrated in the humanities and social sciences, with business, engineering and hard science students noticeably fewer.

• While entrepreneurship depends heavily on developments in hard sciences, the ability to generate hope, mobilize enthusiasm, persuade investors and read customers all depends crucially on soft skills of personal and social judgement.
