FORMAS SUSPENDIDAS, AJEDREZ CINÉTICO-comentarios y pensamientos en torno a la obra de Antonio Asis-
Adentro irradian mágicos rigoreslas formas: torre homérica, ligero

En no pocas ocasiones la adscripción de un artista a una determi-nada corriente estética conlleva la injusta eliminación de singulari-dades expresivas otras, ahogadas por el facilismo interpretativo ydivulgativo de saber, o dar por hecho, que tal artista pertenece, suobra, a un concreto movimiento estético, o histórico o de época,anulando así el estudio y análisis de las “corrientes internas” queesa misma obra detenta en su propio devenir temporal. Corrientesdiscursivas, en efecto, que se expresan (aparentemente) fuera desu cauce natural, pero que observadas, o “leídas” con la necesa-ria atención, delatan y confirman que esa filiación estética no hasido “traicionada”, o abandonada a favor de otros planteamientosestéticos, pero sí que la investigación llevada a cabo por el artistaha diseñado otras estrategias compositivas sin por ello abandonaro renegar de ese movimiento artístico inicial donde lo sitúa unademasiado rígida cartografía histórica.
Lo expresado en el párrafo precedente se ajusta perfectamente ala obra del artista argentino Antonio Asis (Buenos Aires, 1932).Cuando a mediados de la década de los cincuenta decide trasla-darse a París y fijar allí su residencia de manera permanente aligual que muchos otros creadores latinoamericanos, su obraqueda fijada, por voluntad y querencia personales, en lo que la li-teratura de la Historia del Arte ha dado en llamar “arte cinético”,pero no menos cierto sería que esa adscripción ha estado mar-cada por una continua y muy elaborada “crítica” (en su sentido depura investigación) de determinados planteamientos cinéticos, almenos en lo que concierne y atañe a su propia ortodoxia inicial,hasta el punto que la obra entera de Asís es un dinámico devenir,o recorridos estéticos de “ida y vuelta”, entre un origen históricoconcreto y las contingencias sociales y artísticas que han acom-pañado a Asis en su propia biografía o experiencia de vida. Lo “ci-nético” en Asis, entonces, no es tanto la plasmación pictórica delo que pudiéramos definir, entre otras muchas manifestacionessemánticas de “lo cinético”, como un cientifismo gráfico de lo pu-ramente visual, como la plasmación de un análisis donde otrosparámetros estéticos no quedasen excluidos de esa misma cien-cia pictórica de lo visual.
¿Pero de qué otros parámetros expresivos estamos hablando? Siel arte cinético es, en su inicial esencia, una morfología del movi-miento, o una rotación óptica con interferencias de efectos radia-les, la singularidad que mejor define la obra de Asis sería unirrenunciable deseo de dotar al objeto visual, o al cuadro en tantoque universo cerrado en sí mismo, de una vibración donde lamisma referencia a la visibilidad como ciencia, incluso como“cosa industrial”, participara igualmente de una sensualidad cro-mática donde los “efectos” puedan leídos también como “afec-tos”, y con ello la posibilidad de vislumbrar destellos visualesotros, o interferencias lumínicas de complejo rasgo interpretativo,o indicios de una narratividad desnudada (que no vaciada) de suarmazón sintáctico para devenir, únicamente, lenguaje visual, oidioma neutro dotado de una sintaxis que nada estructura y or-dena pero que todo lo armoniza en un universo de pura referen-cialidad óptica y cromática. En Antonio Asis lo cinético es unaoscilación, por supuesto, pero esencialmente es una continua ydilatada transformación de un mismo movimiento pendular, y quetiene como eje vertebrador la vibración de la luz, siempre ycuando ese mismo gesto que vibra también estimule la fantasíaespeculativa, la alteración sígnica, y la modulación afectiva y sen-timental ante lo observado. Expresado de manera diversa ymismo significado: en la obra de Antonio Asis lo cinético es lacontemplación de partes y fragmentos de la Historia del Arte queel autor considera apropiados para resituarlos en una determinadamanifestación estética y con el ánimo de rebasar esa misma orto-doxia cinética por otros medios, con otras voces y referencias di-versas en el tiempo y en el espacio. Sin olvidar la música comoimportantísimo activador, o “agent provocateur”, de esa vibraciónescrita, más que pintada, en tan raro como seductor pentagrama.
La magnífica selección de trabajos de Antonio Asis que ahora po-demos contemplar en Madrid atestiguan la riqueza y variedad deuna obra que es cinética… y mucho más. Digamos, para finalizar,que posee la infinita complejidad argumental y cromática de unhumilde tablero de ajedrez. Como en tantas otras situaciones Bor-ges fue el primero que entendió que el milenario entretenimientoera, en esencia, un juego cinético.
