Practicamos las palabras nuevas
1. Juan es alguien quién navega por Internet mucho. Juan is someone who surfs the web alot.
2. Nadie está en línea antes de escuela. No one is online before school.
3. Una dirección electrónica es algo que necesitas para mandar un correo.
An email address is something that you need in order to send an email.
4. Ninguna cámara digital toma fotos hoy. Not any digital camera takes pictures today.
5. Guillermo nunca quema discos compactos. Tampoco escucha la música.
Guillermo never burns CDs. Neither does he listen to music.
How to use affirmative and negative words correctly
No quiero nada. “I don’t want anything.”
Literal translation: I do not want nothing. No estudio nunca. “I don’t study ever.”
Literal translation: I do not study never. No hay nadie. “There isn’t anyone.”
Literal translation: There is not no one.
*RULE #1 EXPLANATION: Unlike English, Spanish not only allows you to use double negatives, it requires them!

¿Conoces a alguien en ese restaurante?
No, no conozco a nadie ahí.
(Do you know anyone at that restaurant?)
(No, I don’t know anyone there.)
*RULE #2 EXPLANATION: Use a before alguien or nadie when they are objects of the verb.

—No, no quiero ningún postre.
(Do you want any dessert?)
(No, I don’t want any dessert.)
*RULE #3 EXPLANATION: Alguno(a) / ninguno(a) become algún / ningún before a masculine singular noun.
