Як припинити плітки за допомогою лише однієї фрази

Як говорить відома цитата: «Розумні люди обговорюють ідеї, звичайні люди об-говорюють події, простацькі люди обгово-рюють інших людей». Психологи переко-нані, що плітки – це всього лише засіб налагодження соціальних контактів. Але кожен, кому коли-небудь доводилося ста-вати предметом обговорень, знає, що плітки – не є просто нешкідливою балака-ниною. За статистикою, близько 80% розмов – це обговорення інших людей, їхніх зви-чок і вчинків. Психологи кажуть, що плітки зближують людей, адже антипатії, які поділяють люди, діють набагато сильніше спільних інтересів і захоплень. Крім того, деякі люди отримують задоволення, обго-ворюючи помилки й невдачі інших. Таким чином вони самостверджуються, навіть

якщо на словах висловлю-ють співчуття людині, яку обговорюють. Але якщо одним лю-дям зовсім немає діла до то-го, що про них говорять за спиною, інші дуже болісно реагують на будь-яку крити-ку на свою адресу. Поши-рення чуток або навіть прав-дивої інформації про чиїсь невдачі та помилки може дуже негативно вплинути на емоційний стан вразливої

людини. Коли ви пліткуєте чи слухаєте плітки про інших, ви шкодите людині, пря-мо або побічно. Щоб не дати втягнути се-бе у плітки, існує одна проста фраза. Коли хтось намагається розповісти вам чергову плітку, просто запитайте його: «Навіщо ти це мені говориш?». Ця проста фраза діє моментально. По-перше, ваше прямолінійне питання розсіює корисливий мотив пліткаря. А по-друге, воно дає зрозуміти співрозмовнику, що ви не зацікавлені в цьому. Не дайте себе втягнути в потік нега-тивних обговорень і не пліткуйте самі. У кожного своє життя, і не вам судити інших.

How to stop gossip with the help of one simple phrase

There is a famous quote that says: Wise people discuss ideas, average people discuss events and small people discuss oth-er people.” Psychologists are convinced that gossip is simply a means of establishing so-cial contacts. But anyone who was ever the subject of discussion knows that gossip is not simply harmless chatter. Statistics show that almost 80% of conversations are discussions about other people, their habits and behavior. Psycholo-gists say that gossip unites people, because dislikes which divide people are far more powerful than common interests and admi-ration. And besides, some people enjoy dis-cussing the mistakes and failures of others, thereby the gossip is self-affirming even if you verbally express sympathy to the person whom you are discussing. But though some people don’t mind if someone talks about them behind their backs others are very sensitive to any kind of criticism. Spreading ru-mors or even truthful infor-mation about someone’s fail-ures and mistakes can have a negative impact on the emo-tional state of a sensitive per-son. If you are gossiping or listen to gossip you harm a per-son be it directly or indirectly. There is one simple phrase which can save you from becoming involved in gossip. When someone is trying to share another piece of gossip with you, simply ask them: “Why are you telling me this?” This simple phrase works instantly. First of all your direct question dispels the gossipers selfish motive. And second of all, of the it shows your companion that you are not interested in this discussion. Do not allow yourself to be pulled into the stream of unrestrained discussions and do not gossip yourself. Each of us has his and her own life and it is not our place to judge others.

A summer prayer God, You have warmed our corner of your marvelous creation with Your love and grace. I thank You for these beautiful days of summer. Thank You for the delicious bounty of summer, the produce of gardens and farms. Help us to remember, Father, the people who have worked long hours in the hot sun to tend the crops we are thrilled to consume, along with all the people who labor to bring the crops to market for our benefit. Thank You, God, for summer’s invi-tation to celebrate life with family and friends. Thank You for days spent beside and in cooling pools, lakes, and oceans of water. Thank You for opportunities to laugh and play with family and friends on vaca-tions and days off from work routines. Thanks, too, for the ability to travel to be-hold mountain vistas and interesting places. As we thrill in the variety of your creation, remind us of the people who struggle with meeting the necessities of daily life. We pray for those who work multiple jobs without vacations in order to make ends meet. We pray that they will find a source of rest, a respite from their grinding toil. Just give an order and my boy will get better. I am a man under authority myself and I have troops assigned to me. If I give one man the order, ‘Dismissed,’ off he goes. If I say to another, ‘Come here,’ he comes. If I tell my slave, ‘Do this,’ he does it.” Jesus showed amazement on hearing this and remarked to his followers, “I assure you, I have never found this much faith in Israel. Mark what I say! Many will come from the east and the west and will find a place at the banquet in the kingdom of God with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, while the natural heirs of the kingdom will be driven out into the dark. Wailing will be heard there, and the grinding of teeth.” To the centurion Jesus said, “Go home. It shall be done because you trusted.” That very moment the boy got better.
