Overall significance level Broadly, the 4 Categories encompass:
CAT 1: kidnapping, hijacking, death/missing of crew
CAT 2: pirates/robbers were armed, crew was threatened/assaulted, cashtaken
CAT 3: pirates/robbers armed with knives, mostly used to cut and removeitems onboard ships
Petty theft: not armed and crew not harmed

Malaysia for Bintulu, Malaysia
Vessels anchored at Tanjung Ayam on 25
Dec 11 due to rough sea conditions
Vessels departed Tanjung Ayam on 28 Dec
11
Owner tried to contact master on 28 Dec 11
but could not establish communications
Tug boat was observed to be heading
towards Indonesia at about 1800 hrs
On 29 Dec 11 at or about 0700 hrs,
confirmed Sin Hin 5 was along the
Kalimantan Strait
Comms with the master still could not be
established. Last contact on 27 Dec 11
Owner repor ted to ReCAAP ISC that Sin Hin
5towing barge, Sin Hin 6was suspected to
have been hi jacked

TNI-AL and MMEA
Between 29-30 Dec 11, company continued to
share information with ReCAAP ISC on the
movement of the tug boat

On 31 Dec 11, Sin Hin 5and its crew were found and
rescued by the Indonesian Navy off Pulau Belintung,
Indonesia
On 1 Jan 12, an Indonesian aircraft and three warships
found Sin Hin 6 in the area
Owner recovered the vessels
Vessel was renamed Golden I
Owner attributed the quick recovery of the hijacked
vessels to timely information sharing and operational
cooperation among ReCAAP ISC, Focal Points,
Malaysia, Indonesia and i ts stakeholders
Owner shared his experience at ReCAAP ISC Nautical
