Emission regulations -

ECA requirements

Switch to Low sulphur fuel

Install exhaust gas cleaning system

Switch to LNG

Ship-owners have three choices

Sulphur (all ships)

- Today Marpol Annex VI: 4.5% Sulphur

- 2012 (august) : max 1.0% Sulphur fuel

- 2015: max 0.1% Sulphur fuel

NOx (newbuilds)

- Tier II: 2011, 20% NOx reduction- Tier III: 2016, 80% NOx reduction

Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands

within 20 to 40 Nm from coasts

These proposals were adopted by
