La Asociación de Propie-tarios de Hoteles, Condo-minios y Establecimientos Comerciales de Playa Do-rada, en la ciudad de Puerto Plata, realizó con gran éxito el principal evento de tabaco de la costa norte de la República Dominicana, el Caribbean Cigar Night 2015, en el exclusivo Casa Colo-nial Boutique Hotel.

La séptima versión del evento que reúne a la máxi-ma representación de la industria tabaquera domini-cana, se realizó a beneficio de la Primera Beca Universi-taria Playa Dorada con una fiesta que unió el arte del maestro de la acuarela Rafi Vásquez, el Jazz de New Orleans a cargo de Anthony Jefferson, los ritmos y mezclas  de DJ Poché, y la propuesta culinaria del Chef Ejecutivo de Casa Colonial, Roberto di Carlo.

Silverio Galán y Miguel  Án-gel Jiménez Messón, miembros de la junta directiva del complejo Playa Do-rada, agradecieron el apoyo brindado al evento. Por su parte, José María Espart y Jean Michel Louis, coordinadores del Caribbean Cigar Night, manifestaron su gratitud a todos los involucrados en la actividad, hacien-do reconocimiento especial a la familia García, anfitriones de la noche.

En el marco de la actividad se desarrolló un segmento de rifas de pro-ductos de las casas aus-piciadoras. Además, se subastó el art performan-ce del artista Rafi Vás-quez, una obra inspirada en campos de tabaco, la cual alcanzó la suma de US$4,500 dólares.

The Association of Hotels, Condominiums and Commer-cial Establishments of Playa Dorada, in Puerto Plata city, performed with great success the main event of snuff on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, the Caribbean Cigar Night 2015, in the exclusive Casa Colonial Boutique Hotel.The seventh version of the event that brings together the epitome of Dominican tobacco industry was held to benefit the Playa Dorada’s First College Scholarship with a party that joined the master the art of watercolor Rafi Vásquez, the New Orleans Jazz by Anthony Jefferson, rhythms and DJ mixes Poached, and a culinary proposal of the Executive Chef of Casa Colonial, Roberto di Carlo.Roberto Casoni, Eduardo Com-prés, Paul Brugal, Abraham Sel-man, Rafael Silverio and Miguel Angel Jiménez, members of the board of the Playa Dorada com-plex, thanked the support to the

event through words directed by Mr. Jiménez. Then, José María Espart and Jean Michel Louis, Caribbean Cigar Night coordinators, expressed their gratitude to everyone invol-ved in the activity, with special recognition to García family, hosts of the night.During the event was held a raffles segment with the sponsor’s products. In addi-tion, the performance art of the artist Rafi Vásquez was auc-tioned, a work inspired in the tobacco fields, which reached US $ 4.500 US dollars.

EL CENTRO LEÓN PRESENTA LA CONFERENCIA: LA AURORA, 111 AÑOS EN EL ARTE DEL TABACO

En un encuentro, cargado de calidad y esmero, el res-ponsable de comunicación y asuntos públicos de la fábrica de tabaco La Aurora, Javier Blanco Urgoiti, expuso la tra-yectoria de la empresa taba-quera más antigua del país en la Tertulia La Aurora: Historia de una empresa centenaria.Blanco Urgoiti reveló una his-toria de 111 años de tradición, que certifica la aceptación de sus seguidores, la calidad de sus productos y la visión de una familia que ha superado momentos de crisis, genera-ción tras generación.“Pasado sencillo, presente perfecto y futuro promete-dor”, fue el lineamiento para contar una historia de gran-des momentos de La Aurora según Blanco. Un recorrido por las generaciones que han formado parte de esta empre-sa desde Elías León, español emigrante miembro de la primera generación, hasta Fer-nando León Asensio, de la 4ta generación, llevó a conocer a profundidad la historia de una familia detrás de esta empre-sa centenaria. La Aurora nace en 1903 como una modesta fábrica de ciga-rros. La mudanza de la fábrica de tabaco de Tamboril al cen-tro de la ciudad de Santiago en 1912 fue uno de los gran-des momentos de su historia, pero no todo siempre fue color de rosa, el orador también hizo mención de los años posterio-res al 1934 cuando La Aurora vivió una época oscura por la dictadura de Trujillo.Guillermo León, actual pre-sidente de La Aurora y su familia estuvieron presentes en la Tertulia junto a decenas de personas relacionadas a la cultura del tabaco que parti-ciparon en la actividad orga-nizada por el Centro León, en coordinación con La Aurora, donde el maridaje y el deguste de la elaboración artesanal de cigarros fueron el centro del encuentro.

CENTRO LEÓN HELD THE CONFERENCE: LA AURORA,111 YEARS IN THE ART OF TOBACCO

In a gathering charged by quality and dedication, head of communications and public affairs of the snuff factory La Aurora, Javier Blanco Urgoiti, exposed about the history of the oldest tobacco company in the country in the social circle La Aurora: History of a centennial company.Blanco Urgoiti revealed a history of 111 years of tradition, which certifies ac-ceptance of his followers, the quality of its products and the vision of a family that has overcome moments of crisis, generation after generation.

“Past simple, present perfect and pro-mising future” was the guideline to tell a story of great moments of La Aurora according Blanco. A tour of the genera-tions that have been part of this com-pany since Elías León, Spanish member of the first generation immigrant, until Fernando León Asensio, 4th genera-tion, led to know about the history of a family behind this centenary company.The Aurora began in 1903 as a modest cigar factory. The moving the snuff factory of Tamboril to the center of Santiago city in 1912 was a major point

in its history, but not all was always rosy, the speaker also mentioned the years subsequent to 1934 when La Au-rora lived a dark time at the dictatorship of Trujillo.Guillermo León Herbert, current president of La Aurora and his family were present in the social circle next to dozens of people related to the culture of snuff, which participated in the event organized by the Centro León, in coordi-nation with La Aurora, where the pairing and tasting of the cigar craftsmanship were the focus of the meeting.
