Joseph Phelps Insignia 2011Wine Spectator Score: 88.Rugged, rustic, tannic and chewy, this is austere throughout, with dry, gritty currant, blackberry and graphite flavors. In sync with the vintage, the tannins push back and end on the dry side. This wine has a great reputation for gaining with age, though 2011 presented unique challenges. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Gaja Barbaresco 2009Wine Spectator Score: 91 The aromas are restrained for now, but the latent perfume is there. Locked up tightly on the palate, with dusty tannins asserting themselves on the finish. Could exude a sense of purity and complexity if given time. Features a long, spicy aftertaste.

Harlan Estate 2009Wine Spectator Score: 96 Offering a Pomerol-like silkiness, this is very rich and layered, with ripe dark berry, roasted plum and cassis flavors. Yet what's striking is the texture, which has the density of the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove.

Hyde Vineyards Pinot Noir2012Wine Spectator Score: 91Aromas of dried flowers, spice and lavender mix with rich dried berry and sage flavors, balanced by a savory, graceful blackberry note on the lingering finish.

Pendfolds Grange 2008Wine Spectator Score: 100An utterly majestic Shiraz, sleek and seamless, brimming with ripeness on a framework that allows for grace and expressiveness in equal measure. The intensity of fresh blueberry and plum fruit holds attention until the nuances kick in, offering glints of exotic spice, coffee, cocoa, bay leaf and mint. Shows tremendous presence without a lot of weight, the tannins noticeable but not even close to getting in the way. A great wine now, with plenty of room to grow.

Pingus 2012Wine Spectator Score: 90 Smoky and tarry notes give this firm red an austere character, shadowing the plum, licorice and mineral flavors. The tannins are very firm, the acidity fresh. Shows density.

Tattinger Comtes de Champagne 2005Wine Spectator Score: 94 Shows lovely balance, with a chinalike backbone of acidity, finely meshed with a creamy mousse and rich and toasty flavors of roasted hazelnut, creamed apple, lemon parfait and spun honey. A vein of smoky minerality echoes on the finish.

CRAFT BEER ACADEMY by V.SUÁREZ At V.Suárez & Co., we take beer seriously!. With the introduction of Samuel Adams Craft Beers to the local market we became pioneers of the “craft beer movement”.
