blancos.
----------------Translation (rough draft)
The slaves taken from Zafi, a port located in present day Morocco and southwest of Casablanca, was the
result of the war against Islam. The main contingent was composed of natives of Morocco and lands
nearby –moors, berbers, jews and loros- that went to the West Indies in the company of their masters
or conquerors [labeled as?] white slaves. Religious concerns soon demanded the prohibition of the
establishment of these infidels in the newly reclaimed lands, where they practiced the Catholic Santa Fé.
Said prohibitions followed the expulsion of those who had come; orders began in 1501 and were
repeated in subsequent years. Apparently these orders weren’t strictly obeyed since during this century
small groups of white slaves came to our country and to America in general.
