Films popular in Action Romance

There are a number of films that are popular within this genre, for example Mr and Mrs Smith, The Body Guard, Knight and Day, The Bounty Hunter.

They normally involve well- known film stars such as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Mr and Mrs Smith.


The genre goes back to the early days of Hollywood and over the years stars have included Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn in the African Queen and Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner in Romancing The Stone.

The films often have a strong comedy element or witty dialogue.


The main characters usually begin the film disliking each other but a romantic relationship develops.

Action Romance films can be huge at the box office, for example, Top Gun starring Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis. The money taken for the film at the box office was $356,830,601.
