Fundamentación: Las enfermedades del corazón y los vasos sanguíneos representan la primera causa de morbimortalidad para todos aquellos países en que las enfermedades infecto‐contagiosas no representan en la actualidad un cruel azote para la humanidad. El 50% aproximadamente de estas muertes corresponde a una afección: la Muerte Cardiaca Súbita (MCS). Esta entidad a criterio de algunos expertos representa uno de los principales desafíos para el presente siglo, lo cual está justificado por su elevada incidencia con 4 000 000 de fallecidos anuales en todo el mundo, solo en Europa y Estados Unidos 400 000 ‐ 500 000 eventos cada año o lo que es lo mismo un evento por cada minuto. Unido a esto el dramatismo en su presentación, representando la principal causa de años de vida perdidos de forma prematura, solo superados por las muertes cardiovasculares (no súbitas) y el cáncer. El 50% de estas muertes constituye la primera y única manifestación de enfermedad cardiovascular y la posibilidad de sobrevida tras un episodio de MCS no excede el 11%. La MCS en el mundo occidental ocasiona más muertes que las causadas en conjunto por el sida, el cáncer de pulmón, el cáncer de mama y los accidentes cerebrovasculares, representando una verdadera pandemia dentro de la enfermedad cardiovascular que se nos presenta como una problemática de salud no resuelta habiendo transcurrido la primera década del siglo XXI. En la mayoría de los países con esta situación de salud cardiovascular se libra una batalla tenaz contra este flagelo, comenzando por la creación de registros oficiales del fenómeno que permitan evaluar su magnitud, al estar recogida en la Clasificación Internacional de Enfermedades (CIE 10) [I.46.1], pasando por la búsqueda de predictores con elevada capacidad de identificar a las víctimas potenciales en poblaciones en riesgo (alta sensibilidad y especificidad) y organizando sistemas de rescate que garanticen un rápido acceso a las víctimas de paro cardiorrespiratorio en los primeros minutos de iniciado el episodio, evitando su progresión a la

MCS, además de la necesaria capacitación de cuerpos oficiales en los gobiernos y voluntarios en el diagnóstico y atención a esta entidad. Cuba no está ajena a esta realidad, su sistema sanitario a la par de los países del mundo desarrollado muestra a esta entidad como una importante causa de mortalidad según estudios epidemiológicos realizados en áreas poblacionales. Estimados realizados cifran una tasa específica de MCS en el 2012 en el rango de 89,6‐99,5 por 100 000 habitantes, lo que equivale del 11,2 al 12,4% de las muertes naturales (un evento cada 48 minutos). Cuba, al igual que el resto de los países de nuestro continente carece de un registro oficial estadístico que permita conocer la magnitud de la misma. En virtud de los elementos expuestos con anterioridad y considerando el enorme impacto actual de la muerte súbita cardiovascular para el mundo y para Cuba en particular y teniendo como objetivo el diseño de estrategias de salud que permitan disminuir esta problemática, convocamos a la realización del: I Simposio Cubano de Muerte Súbita Cardiovascular. Disponer de una visión integral en el abordaje de esta entidad lograda en el intercambio multidisciplinario entre los expertos de las diversas disciplinas que llevan a cabo su estudio, ayudará a modificar esta realidad planteada.

• Conferencias magistrales 30 minutos • Panel 60 minutos • Mesas redondas 90 minutos Las conferencias magistrales, paneles y mesas redondas serán propuestos por los participantes y aprobados por el Comité Organizador del Simposio. Este resultado será inapelable. La fecha tope de envío de las propuestas de los trabajos será el 15 de octubre de 2013. Idiomas oficiales Español e inglés. El servicio de interpretación simultánea se ofrecerá en las sesiones de inauguración, clausura y en las de trabajo que decida el Comité Científico. Medios audiovisuales para las presentaciones en salas • Proyector de datos y videos • Computadora Los medios audiovisuales que se requieran para las presentaciones, deberán ser solicitados con antelación al Comité Científico. Los CD, DVD y unidades de almacenamiento masivo que acompañen los trabajos serán entregados por los propios ponentes 24 horas antes de la presentación en la sala, en la Oficina de Recepción de Medios Audiovisuales, ubicada en la planta alta del Palacio de Convenciones de La Habana. Si usted desea realizar un diseño libre, el precio del espacio sin montar es 100.00 CUC / m2, esto cubre todo el período de la exposición e incluye:

IMPORTANTE

La fecha límite de negociación y aceptación de los paquetes y otras ofertas de patrocinios, así como de los acápites individuales a

patrocinar, será hasta el 1ro. de septiembre de 2013.

OBSERVACIONES La selección de los paquetes especiales para los patrocinadores Platino, Oro, Plata, Bronce, Libre y otras formas de patrocinio, se hará a través del Formulario de Patrocinios (anexo 1), el cual se enviará a la Secretaría de Organización del Simposio por vía electrónica: [email protected], y se tendrá en cuenta la fecha y hora reflejada en el envío.

En caso de que dos o más patrocinadores coincidan simultáneamente en la selección del acápite a patrocinar, la Secretaría del Congreso se los comunicará para que puedan hacer una contraoferta, con el fin de decidir al patrocinador.

Los stands modulares tienen un diseño y ubicación definidos en el plano de la exposición asociada.

Condiciones y formas de pago

Se analizará a partir de las negociaciones previas con el Comité Organizador del evento y de las solicitudes de los patrocinadores. Posteriormente, se procederá a la firma del acuerdo.

Heart diseases and blood vessels represent the first cause of morbidity and mortality for those countries in which infectious and communicable diseases do not involve, in fact, a cruel scourge for mankind. Around 50% of these sorts of deaths were caused by a heart condition: Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD). Such entity, according to some experts´ viewpoint, act as one of the main challenges for the existing century, which it is justified by its high level of impact with 4 000 000 deceased annually around the world. Europe and the United States are the only ones who has an average of 400 000 – 500 000 deceased respectively every year. Along with it, the dramatic quality that represents the leading cause of early lost years of life, it´s only exceeded by both cardiac deaths (non‐sudden) and cancer. 50% of these deaths constitute the only and first symptoms of cardiovascular disease, and the chance of a SCD survival does not exceeded the 11% of death. In the western region, deaths are more caused by SCD than AIDS, lung and breast cancer, as well as cerebrovascular accidents (stroke). It represents a real epidemic within cardiovascular disease, which it is showed as an unsolved health situation after the first decade of the 21st Century. Most of the countries facing this cardiovascular health problem are strongly fighting a hard battle against this scourge. For a good result, these nations start setting official records for this phenomenon that allow specialists to assess its magnitude, being it gathered in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD 10) (I.46.1), throughout the search of predictors with a high capacity to identify the potential victims in risk populations (high‐level of sensitivity and specificity). It develops rescue systems that guarantee a fast approach to cardio respiratory arrest victims during the first minutes of the cause, preventing them from SCD advance, as well as the necessary official body training for this entity care and diagnosis.

Cuba is completely aware of this reality. Its health system along with developed countries shows this entity as an important mortality cause, according to epidemiological studies made in some population regions. In 2012, some appraisals estimated a SCD specific rate at 89, 6 – 99, 5 range per 100 000 inhabitants, that amounts to 11, 2 – 12, 4% of natural deaths (one death every 48 hours). Cuba, just like the other countries in our continent, lacks an official statistical registry which allows us to know about SCD largeness. In accordance with the elements aforementioned and taking into account the huge current impact of SCD for Cuba and the rest of the world, and also aiming to plan some health strategies that enables us to decrease these problems, we are pleased to invite you to the 1st Cuban Symposium on Sudden Cardiac Death. In this way, we dispose of a comprehensive vision in order to attain a multidisciplinary exchange among experts of different disciplines in this field, which will help to change this reality.

MODALITIES OF THE SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM • Master lectures 30 minutes • Panel 60 minutes • Round Tables 90 minutes Master lectures, panels and round tables will be proposed by participants and approved by the Organizing Committee of the event. The deadline for the submission of papers will be: October 15th, 2013. Working languages Spanish and English will be the official languages in the event. There will be simultaneous interpreting service in the opening and closing sessions, as well as in lectures decided by the Scientific Committee. Audiovisual aids for the presentation in rooms • Data and video projector • PC Audiovisual aids required for presentations, should be requested in advance to the Scientific Committee. CDs, DVDs and also mass storage drives enclosing the papers will be delivered by the lecturers at the Audiovisual Aids Reception Office, 24 hours before the presentation in the corresponding room. This office is located on the first floor of the Havana International Conference Center. Digital presentations must meet the following requirements: • Windows operating systems • Power Point Presentations • CD, DVD and mass storage drives presentations • Compressed presentations with the following applications:

The Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC) is the official circulating currency in the country. It can be obtained upon arrival in Cuba at airports, hotels, conference centers, bank agencies and exchange offices. The exchangeable currencies are Euros, U.S. and Canadian Dollars, Sterling Pounds and Swiss francs, as well as Mexican pesos. The exchange will be according to daily exchange rate and current fees at the time. Credit cards such as Visa, Cabal and Master Card as long as they are not drawn from an American bank. Registration fees include: Delegate: Name badge with access to all working sessions of the event, documents (including Program‐abstracts book and the CD containing the proceedings of the Symposium), participation in social activities, as well as author and/or attendance certificate Accompanying Person: Name badge, souvenirs, participation in social activities, opening and closing ceremonies of the event. Payment of the registration fee Interested people will have the following options to register and pay the registration fee: • The registration fee must be directly paid at the Registration Office of

the Havana International Conference Center, venue of the event, or by bank transfer.

• Through the International Sales Office of the Havana International Conference Center, if delegate books one of the packages specially prepared for the event, including registration fee. International Sales Office will also provide with on‐line payment, with a single transaction, which will guarantee each delegate´s registration, access to all activities of the official program; stay at Palco Hotel (venue hotel), in‐out transfer and personalized assistance. FAIR‐RELATED EXHIBITION In line with the meetings, a scientific‐commercial exhibition will be held in the main lobby of the Havana International Conference Center. In this occasion, companies, laboratories, hospitals and specialized firms, from home and abroad, will have an exceptional opportunity for exhibiting and marketing their equipments, products, technologies, drugs and other materials related to the topic of the event.

The price of the modular stand is 110.00 CUC per square meter. If you want to make your own design, the price of the unassembled space is 100.00 CUC per square meter. It covers the whole exhibition period and includes:

The minimum space to be contracted is 9 square meters (3 x 3m). National entities not dealing with foreign currency pay with Cuban Pesos (CUP); whereas those dealing with foreign currency pay 50%. The deadline for the negotiation and acceptance of sponsorship packages, as well as of the different sponsoring modalities, will be

September 1st, 2013.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

REMARKS The selection of the special packages for Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Free sponsors, as well as that of the other sponsoring modalities, will be made through the Sponsorship Form (appendix‐1), which must forwarded be to the Symposium Organization Secretariat by e‐mail.: [email protected]. The hour and date sent will be taken into account.

In the case of two or more sponsors are interested in the same sponsorship modality, the Symposium Secretariat will inform the involved parties so that they can make a counteroffer in order to decide the final sponsor. The design and location of modular stands are established in the map of the Fair‐Related Exhibition.

Conditions and forms of payment Payment requirements will be analyzed based on previous negotiations with the Organizing Committee of the event and on sponsors’ applications. Subsequently, sponsors will proceed to the signing of agreements.
