CATEQUÉSIS COMUNITARIA Y FAMILIAR — COMMUNITY AND FAMILY CATECHESIS

We are called to carry the cross Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time Week of September 16, 2018 Listen to the Word (Mark 8:27 – 35) What words or phrases strike you? How do these words of Jesus touch your own heart? Look into your life Question for children: What do think it means for you to follow in Jesus footsteps? Question for youth: Who do you say that Jesus is? Who is Jesus in your life? Question for adults: What is the cross that you carry today? How do you follow Jesus in the workplace and at home? Activities for the week Take these activities to further reflect: We are called to carry our crosses. For your prayer time this week, gather family members in a circle. If you have a crucifix, pass it around the circle. If you do not have a crucifix or cross, make one. Explain: “When the cross is passed to you, quietly pray for strength to carry your own cross. As you wait to hold the cross, silently pray for whoever is holding the cross.” To help your family understand what it means to follow in Jesus’ footsteps, use the following activity: Take off your shoes and trace one of your feet on a sheet of paper. Cut out the outline of your foot. Write down inside the foot how you can follow in Jesus’ footsteps at home, at school or at work. After each family member has complet-ed the activity, place each person’s foot on the floor to create a path. Gather around the footsteps and talk about what it means to follow in Jesus’ footsteps. The choice to follow Jesus includes carrying one’s cross. What is the cross that you carry today? How does Jesus help you carry your cross? Create a poster with your family. On the poster, write ways your family can follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Some suggestions in-clude: Helping one another with household tasks. Visiting someone who is homebound. Being compassionate and listening to one an-other. Volunteering to help with a parish project that serves the poor.

Pastoral Care Are you homebound and in need of Pastoral Care? Do you know someone who is homebound and in need of Pastoral Care among our La Salette Parish community? Do you or someone you know wishes to receive Holy Communion at home. Please call the parish office at 770.479.8923 to let us know.

STEWARDSHIP BY THE BIBLE — CORRESPONSABILIDAD DE ACUERDO A LA BIBLIA

Twenty-fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time September 16, 2018 In the second reading today, James has harsh words for those who do not put their faith into action. May we be such good stewards of God’s gifts to us that we can never be accused of having faith that is not put into practice.
