Spring is in the air, and Durham has lots of exciting happenings! In February, Durham students en-joyed a Pizza and Game Night (hosted by the PTA Men’s Commit-tee), STEAM Week activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) and a program of singing, dancing and skits to cele-brate Black History Month.
Students, staff, parents and commu-nity members are hard at work practicing for Durham’s Got Talent. The first round of competitions will take place in March, leading up to
the finals in April. If you have a tal-ent you’d like to showcase, signup at www.DurhamPTA.org/dgt or email [email protected].
Mark your calendars for Spring Fling on April 4th from 12-4 p.m. Students, families and community members are invited to enjoy inflat-ables, a video game truck, carnival-style games, concessions, Durham’s Got Talent final competition and more. There will be plenty of activi-ties for kids of all ages! We also wel-come community members to vol-unteer! Sign up here: www.durhampta.org/spring-fling.
One of the easiest ways to support Durham is by participating in Spirit Nights at local restaurants. When
you mention Durham at checkout, we’ll receive a portion of the pro-ceeds. Please patronize
Chick-Fil-A on March 11th from 4-8 p.m.
and Tacos A-Go-Go
on March 24th from 4-8 p.m.

REMINDER!
When Houston is expecting a heavy rain, gully-washer, storm or flash flood (or even when Houston is not ex-pecting a major water event — because after all it IS Houston), please clear debris from around the storm drains. We need to be proactive in keeping our streets as rivers, not lakes. PLAZA GARAGE SALES
April 18th is the date set for garage sales in Candlelight Plaza and Shepherd Park Plaza. Clean out your garage, at-tic, closet, car or other storage facility and make a few ex-tra bucks. (Rain date is the 25th). Note: This “event” is not a coordinated one-location sale but is a day for individual garage sales.

MISS NANA’S NEIGHBORHOOD
Candlelight Plaza resident, Cindy Roy, aka Neighborhood Nana, has set a goal to be selected as Yard of the Month every month. It’s never been done before, but Nana said, “Game on!”
As a “nana,” Roy is all about nurturing the environment around her, whether it be family, friends, home, garden or cat(s). Nana is continuously updating the décor of her front garden, creating one botanical delight after another. Pictures don’t really do the creation justice; you need to walk by 1043 Lehman and see it for yourself.
