Los incendios ocurridos el pasadoaño en el municipio de Mijas y queafectaron a nuestra urbanizaciónen la zona norte han motivado quela Junta directiva haya queridoreforzar las medidas de prevenciónque llevamos a cabo en nuestroplan de incendios, ampliando lasobligaciones que se incluyen en elmismo. Para ello, desde el pasadomes de Octubre venimostrabajando en un programa demantenimiento y limpieza delas zonas verdes de laurbanización y queesperamos finalizar enel mes de Mayo deeste año, para ellohemos hecho ungran esfuerzo enlospresupuestosampliandola partidade

prevención de incendios de modoque nos permita acometer todosestos trabajos.Los trabajos ya realizados son:-Limpieza y adecuación de la zonaverde situada entre Portón VII y laAv. De Europa.-Limpieza de la zona verde deParque de Paraíso, con entresacay limpieza de pinos.-Limpieza de la zona verde de laC/Jaén (las Serranas) incluyendoentresaca, poda de pinos yadecuación del ter reno yvegetación.

Para estos trabajos será necesariocontratar maquinaria especializada (de cadenas), hemospedido ayuda al Ayuntamiento, tanto en maquinariacomo personal (de la renta básica), pero hasta ahorano hemos obtenido respuesta.La EUC Sitio de Calahonda elabora de forma anualun plan de autoprotección y de defensa ante laemergencia, que incluye acciones preventivas segúnla normativa vigente y donde se especifica los teléfonosde contacto en caso de emergencia. Este plan que seentrega al Ayuntamiento para que lo incorpore a suplan de prevención contempla lo siguiente:* La definición y señalización de las rutas deevacuación, así como los puntos donde dirigirse encaso de incendios.* La identificación de los lugares que pueden serorigen de incendio.* Mantener limpios los viales, caminos y otras víasde accesos y limpieza de las cunetas en al menos unmetro.* Limpieza y mantenimiento regular de las zonasverdes y poda de los árboles que lo necesiten.

This plan is handedto the Town Hall for them to include in their preventionplan and comprises the following:

* Evitar la acumulación de restos de vegetales enparcelas o zonas verdes.* Crear y mantener adecuadamente una red dehidrantes y puntos de abastecimiento de agua.

Tenemos planificado tener una reunión con la jefaturade Bomberos, para intentar establecer un procedimientoespecífico y más adecuado para nuestras zonas verdes,ya que debido a su tamaño, es necesario que losbomberos las conozcan un poco mejor, de forma quepuedan actuar mejor y más rápido en caso de incendio.Así mismo hemos solicitado colaboración para elplanteamiento de planes de evacuación específicoselaborados por zonas.

Existen una serie de medidas específicas para lasviviendas y comunidades que son:• Plantar especies resistentes al fuego y evitar plantarsetos y vallas inflamables en el borde de la parcelaque linde con zona verde.• Mantener limpio de restos el tejado y las terrazas.• Eliminar toda la vegetación que esté por encima delas viviendas teniendo especial atención a laschimeneas.• No acumular materiales, productos y objetosinflamables. Deje limpio los alrededores de la vivienda,especialmente los que estén cerca o pegados a lafachada puertas o ventanas.• Hacer su parcela o jardín resistente, limitando oeliminando la vegetación inflamable en el jardín ytener mucha atención a los restos de poda yacumulación de leña o depósitos de combustible.• Proteger las ventanas con persianas o contraventanas.•Evitar plásticos y materiales inflamables en loselementos constructivos o fachadas.• Mantener un buen sistema de riego y abastecimientode agua con caudal suficiente en caso de emergencia.Revisar depósitos de agua o tanques.Para aquellos propietarios que lindan con zonas verdes,y deseen asesoramiento personalizado, estaremosdisponibles en la oficina donde se explicarán, caso a

Keep clear the surroundings of the property,especially areas next to doors or windows.- Make your plot or garden fire resistant, cleaning oreliminating inflammable vegetation in the garden andbe very careful with garden debris and firewoodstoring or fuel deposits.- Protect windows with blinds or shutters.- Avoid plastics or inflammable materials on buildingelements or facades.- Maintain a good irrigation system and a water supplywith sufficient flow in the event of an emergency.

Hemos evaluado los daños del pasado incendio queafectó a unos 17.000m2. Según los expertos hay quedejar pasar al menos un año para poder actuar en lazona afectada por los incendios y más adelante,intentaremos poner en marcha un plan de reforestación,que regenere la zona y que la devuelva a su estadooriginal.

El Ministerio de Medio ambiente ha aprobado ya unapartida extraordinaria de 1,5 millones de euros paraactuaciones en la zona incendiada en la Costa del Sol,cantidad que se duplicará con lo aportado por nuestracomunidad autónoma. Vamos a solicitar tanto alAyuntamiento, como a la Junta de Andalucía, que seincluya la zona afectada por el incendio en nuestraurbanización.

Por último, comunicarles que el Ayuntamiento hamejorado el sistema de solicitud y autorización depodas, de tal forma que sólo es necesario realizar unadeclaración responsable de poda y remitirla alAyuntamiento. Ellos se encargarán de supervisar eltrabajo. Este formulario puede descargarse de la páginaweb del Ayuntamiento.

Nuestro Ayuntamiento está dando pasos firmes en lacolaboración con las urbanizaciones y nosotros noshemos visto beneficiados de ello, de tal forma que yahan comenzado a pagar alguna de las facturas delconsumo eléctrico del alumbrado público de nuestraurbanización, recordaran que el año pasado en abrilfirmamos un convenio, esperamos que el abono delos consumos continúen, pues todavía no hanterminado de abonar el 2012.

La Policía Local ha hecho un estudio de varias zonasde la urbanización para mejorar la seguridad del tráficoy de los peatones, estamos a la espera de que acudancon la maquinaria para poder señalizar las calles. Las

You willremember that last year in April we signed anagreement and we hope that the payments continueas they still havenít finished paying for 2012.The Local Police has carried out a study on severalareas of the urbanisation to improve the security oftraffic and pedestrians. We are waiting for them tocome with the machinery to paint the new markings.The streets they will be working on are: - MonteparaÌso,adapting the pavement to make it pedestrian even

calles en las que se va a actuar son: - Monte Paraíso, adecuando la acera para que seapeatonal aunque sea baja y por tanto se puede andarpor la calle sin tener que hacerlo por la zona reservadaal tráfico.- C/ Córdoba y C/ del Golf, en las que según se ve enel gráfico habrá trozos bidireccionales y otros dedirección única. Algunos vecinos de la zona no estánde acuerdo pero la gran mayoría si, incluso nos pidieronque solicitáramos del Ayuntamiento una solución alexceso de velocidad que se producía en la bajada deC/ Córdoba. Estamos hablando con los vecinos de lazona e imperará el interés mayoritario.

En otro orden de cosas, queremos aprovechar que elAyuntamiento va a hacer una actuación con maquinariaespecial en zonas verdes cercanas a nuestraurbanización para poder realizar parte de los trabajosprevistos en nuestras zonas verdes y que se encuentranen nuestros planes de prevención de incendios. Deeste modo podemos conseguir disminuir el coste queconlleva la ejecución de estos trabajos y poderacometer otros trabajos también necesarios.

De los datos de que disponemos nuestra urbanizaciónse desprende que goza de mejor estado de salud, encuanto a seguridad se refiere, que otras zonas delmunicipio e incluso de la Costa del Sol. Aunque enel último mes, tenemos que reseñar que hemos tenidodos hechos inéditos en Sitio de Calahonda. Uno hasido un alunizaje en la tienda de televisiones de AV.de España, en la que la actuación de Franjus Seguridad,la Guardia Civil y la Policía Nacional ha sido decisivapara la detención de los delincuentes unas horasdespués de haber cometido el delito, por tanto se hapodido recuperar el material robado. Otro el robo decables del alumbrado público de la Av. de Europa,hasta la fecha estos hechos no habían sucedido ennuestra urbanización pero si en muchas localidadesy urbanizaciones vecinas, el cobre del cableado es unmetal muy valorado, los delincuentes actúan conmucha rapidez, imaginamos que irán vestidos deoperarios y a nadie le extraña ver que hay unostrabajadores realizando reparaciones en la vía pública,por tanto rogamos a todos los vecinos que veanpersonal para ellos desconocido que están trabajandoen el alumbrado, en arquetas, en definitiva en nuestrascalles lo pongan en conocimiento de la oficina de laEUC 953.93.20.40 y si no es horario de oficina llamen

The other issue wasthe theft of the public lighting cables in Avda. deEuropa. Up to date this had not happened in oururbanisation though it has happened in many otherplaces and urbanisations. The copper in the cables isa high valued metal. The thieves work quickly andwe suppose they use services uniforms so as not tostand out and look as if they are just working on somerepair job on the street. Therefore, we kindly ask allneighbours who may see unknown staff working onthe lighting, manholes or on our streets to inform theEUC office on 952932040 and if its after office hoursthe security company 952823537. If we are all alertwe will make it more difficult for them to rob the

Seguimos teniendo problemas de tráfico, la velocidadalcanzada por algunos vehículos en nuestras calles esexcesiva amentando el peligro de accidentes ycolisiones. Por otro lado, el vial que une Sitio deCalahonda con Jarales sigue dando problemas, sonmuchos los conductores que no respetan la direcciónprohibida dando lugar a situaciones peligrosas, es máslos que lo hacen aceleran más para pasar el trozo dedirección prohibida en menos tiempo y el que seincorpora desde Sitio de Calahonda, C/Almería notiene visibilidad suficiente para ver dando lugar afrenazos, peleas… No hay opciones diferentes paraun vial estrecho que no permite el paso de dosvehículos, pues es imposible la instalación de unsemáforo por no haber sitio para la espera.

Acabamos de terminar otro año sin deudas para laEUC con unas cuentas limpias y revisadas por losauditores UHY fay & Co Chartered Accountants.En el ambiente económico actual es una muy buenaactuación mantenerse con un saldo positivo y seguir

Unfortunately, we expectsimilar amounts during 2013.The collection of fees continues to be at a very high

level with 90% collectedof the present budget for2 0 1 2 a n d a n o t h e rc o r r e s p o n d i n g 8 %collected from previousyearís debts. All in all98% of budget which webelieve is an outstandingachievement today.Thank you all for the bigeffort you carried out.Although collection ishigh, we have seenmemberís debt rising forsome years. 2012 did alsohave an increase but

Como habrán podido comprobar nuestros esfuerzoss e h a n e n c a u z a d oprincipalmente a la mejora delalumbrado de la urbanización,de tal forma que se haprocedido a la sustitución denueve farolas de 5 mts. de laAv. de España por otras de 8m t s . c o n l a n u e v aornamentación y mejora de lailuminación. Las farolasretiradas de la Avd. de Españase están instalando en la C/Joséde Orbaneja donde ya hemosalcanzado la calle Torcal.

Además de esta mejora, en laAv. De España y la C/José deOrbaneja se están haciendootras actuaciones en el restode calles donde se procede alcambio de la luminaria paramejorar la iluminación y

eliminar la contaminaciónlumínica de las actuales.Junto con esta actuaciónhemos tratado de mejorar laseguridad en la arteriaprincipal de la urbanizacióny para ello hemos procedidoa la instalación de “ojos degato” en los pasos de cebra.Con esta medida es posiblever por la noche y los días delluvia la señalización de lospasos de cebra.

Por otro lado vamos aproceder a la mejora delparque infantil de la Av. DeEspaña, Parque de España,donde se va a dotar de maszona ajardinada y se colocarana l g u n o s a p a r a t o sbiosaludables donde se podrápracticar ejercicios físicos. Igualmente, el parque dela C/José de Orbaneja, Parque Andalucía, frente alPuente II dispondrá de aparatos biosaludables.

Además de esto se ha continua con el programa dereparación de aceras en mal estado como C/Golf,

Vandulken, etc..,as í como lareposición ymejora de loscierres de laszonas verdes conuna vallado demejor calidad yaspecto.

As well as all the above, we have continued withthe program for repairing pavements in bad conditionsuch as calle Golf, Van Dulken, etc. and replacingand improving the green areas closures with betterquality fencing and with a better appearance.

Como ya se informaba en la revista anterior, laurbanización Sitio de Calahonda cumple 50 años desdesu comienzo. La EUC Sitio de Calahonda estápreparando una serie de eventos, que duraran tres días,para celebrar esta ocasión y se trata de que participe elmayor número de vecinos posible.Habrá actividades para todos los gustos, desde unconcurso de fotografía con el motivo “Sitio deCalahonda” donde podrán participar tanto los vecinosde la urbanización como otros habitantes del términode Mijas, también se va a hacer un concurso-exhibiciónde pintura con el mismo motivo. Además se llevará acabo varias actividades deportivas (como un campeonatode golf: "Trofeo Don José de Orbaneja" en el Club deGolf La Siesta y un campeonato de pádel en el Clubdel Sol). También se celebrará un concierto de músicabarroca en la iglesia y posteriormente una cena formalen el Club del Sol donde se expondrá igualmente unaexposición de fotos históricas de Calahonda. El día 29se celebrará una fiesta para los más pequeños en elparque vivero, acompañado de una verbena para losmayores y música en vivo (incluyendo un acto de laBanda Municipal de Mijas). Finalmente en la Iglesiase celebrará una misa rociera que dará por finalizado

As informed in the previous issue of this magazine, theurbanisation of the Sitio de Calahonda was started 50 yearsago. The EUC Sitio de Calahonda is preparing a numberof events during three days to mark this special occasion. The aim is to have a large number of neighboursparticipating.There are activities for all tastes ..... from a photographiccompetition with the motive Sitio de Calahonda whereboth neighbours of our urbanisation or any other personliving in Mijas can participate. We will also have an artexhibition-competition with the same motive. Also, therewill be several sport activities (such as a golf tournament"Trofeo Don José de Orbaneja" at La Siesta Golf Club andpaddle at the Club del Sol) There will also be a baroquemusic concert at the church and after a formal dinner atClub del Sol where historic photographs of Calahonda willbe exhibited. On the 29th of June there will also be a partywith games for the small ones and live music and a dancefor the not so small (including a performance of the MijasMunicipal Band) at the Parque Vivero. Lastly there willbe a mass service that will conclude the events of the 50thanniversary of Sitio de Calahonda.
