3 levels:

• Stategic: The Higher Educational Development Board: a group of local

decisionmakers, the top of the local employers.

– 3 times a year

– Question: What are the trends, what’s going to happen in the next year.

• Tactical: Workfield Advisery Board: each course, or group of courses has to

have a WAB:

– Minimum of 6 times a year

– Question: reflection on content: is what we teach that what you want?

3 levels:

Operational: the daily life teaching and training

– Comakership: our way of practical-outsite learning,

– Guest lectures,

– Teaching on location (eg. nursing),

– Assessments: always a representative of the workfield (employers)

present at assessments (examinations),

– Assessment on the workfloor.

Comakership (1)The Comakership is a concept op practical learning

developed by Windesheim Flevoland.

A Comakership is a period during their study that a student

works outsite school in a company on a real life assignment.

During the four years of the bachelor a student works at least

3 times on a Comakership. The first Comakership is always

with other students. Mostly interdisciplinair with other

students from other courses.

The final Comakership during the last semester is always

individual.

During the final Comakership the student has to produce a

real life product, representing what he has learned.

Comakership (2)

Practical learning: outsite learning, ‘internship’

Real life assignment (product): The student works on a

assignment which is real: developing products, producing

useful outcome

Interdisciplinair: we aim that student work in interdisciplinair

team eg:

• Nursing, Social Work, Computer Science and Marketing

• Build Environment, Engineering and Softwaredevelopment

• Students write in collaboration with their ‘employer’ a Plan of Action.

• This Plan of Action has to be approved by school.

then:

• A contract is drawn between the student, the company and the school.

• Guidance is provided by school and the company.

Comakership (3): how it works:

Another example

Guidance: an assurance to quality :

• The supervisor of the company has to have a least a bacherlor’s degree.

• The supervisor has to have at least 4 years working experience

• The supervisor must spend at least 1 ½ hour per week to the student

Comakership (4): how it works:

Comakership (4)

The student is always assessed individual

• What did I contribute to the product that is produced?

• Which competences have I achieved?

• How did the process develop and what did I do to influence that proces?

• What is the added value of the product in relation to People, Place

Product?

Assessment always by the school; The company advises the school during the

assessment.

W i n d e s h e i m z e t k e n n i s i n w e r k i n g

Comakership (5) Assessing:

ALWAYS INDIVIDUAL; no group assessment!

The final grade is made up out of more than one marks:

• A mark for the group effort

• A mark for the individual effort

• A mark for the reflection report

All assessments are based on a assessment form which is known before the

start of the project.

Comakership (6)

What do we ask from the company?

1st: A real life assignment

2nd: Time: for guidance for the student

Time to consulte with the school

3rd: A trained supervisor: the supervisor of the student has to be higher

educated than the student: we ask for seniority!

How do parties benefit?The Student:

Works on a real life assignment. He experiences the real working life.

The Company:

Young eager, intelligent, innovative students.

It is cheap: it doesn’t cost the company much. And when it goes wrong, there is no

financial risk.

The School:

We are at the heart of innovation: close contact with all kind of companies.

Our network still grows: Enthusiastic people from companies participate in the

learning triangle
