Publication date: June 2016 Source: Transportation Research Part C:Emerging Technologies, Volume 67 Author(s): Jun Liu, Xin Wang, AsadKhattak Wider deployment of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) can help withincreasing energy security and transitioning to clean vehicles. Ideally,adopters of AFVs are able to maintain the same level of mobility as usersof conventional vehicles while reducing energy use and emissions. Greaterknowledge of AFV benefits can support consumers’ vehicle purchase anduse choices. The Environmental Protection Agency’s fuel economy ratingsare a key source of potential benefits of using AFVs. However, the ratingsare based on pre-designed and fixed driving cycles applied in laboratoryconditions, neglecting the attributes of drivers and vehicle types.

It can be applied to waste heat recovery of unsteadyheat sources, such as exhaust gas of automobile engines. According tothe variation characteristics of exhaust gas temperature and mass flowrate, the EGMR (Exhaust Gas Mixture Recirculation) loop is designed. Theexhaust gas flowing out of the evaporator is partially recovered and mixedwith the real-time engine exhaust gas, and then led to recirculation in theevaporator.

We present an evaluationframework and a detail sequence of steps for quantifying the impacts ofpublic transport design and operational measures.

Between 1999 and 2004, there was an average of 122 bus fires reported in Sweden alone, and that thisequated to buses being 5 to 10 times more likely to catch fire than trucks. In addition, estimated unreported busfires are 2/3 of reported incidents (~ 81 incidents). In the EU27 alone, there are an estimated 700,000 busesand coaches in use and about 35,000 buses sold annually – of these only 25% have some sort of fireprotection systems.

The diagnosticsystem comprises a sensor simulator configured to be selectively coupledto the vehicle computer via a wiring harness during a diagnostic mode, andto eliminate and simulate a known good sensor to the vehicle computer byway of the vehicle sensor wiring harness directly connected therebetween.

The average fuel economy (window-sticker value) of new vehicles sold inthe US in July 2016 was 25.4 mpg (9.25 l/100 km)—up 0.1 mpg from thevalue for June 2016, according to the latest monthly report from Dr.Michael Sivak and Brandon Schoettle at University of MichiganTransportation Research Institute (UMTRI). Fuel economy is down 0.4mpg from the peak reached in August 2014, but still up 5.3 mpg sinceOctober 2007 (the first month of their monitoring).
