Oct. 21-22 29th Sunday in Ordinary TimeJesus knows that the Pharisees were seeking to entrap him and he does not allow it. Government has a role to play, but God’s role is always more central and important. A question that arises from this Gospel is: Do we live in a way that reflects the primacy of God in our lives? Do our lives show God’s values regard-ing sharing our gifts and resources in the world? Do the poor have a place of pri-macy in our consciousness, as they do in God’s? What is one thing we can do this week to let the poor have a privileged place in our life and consciousness?

The members of the Society are planning for our annual Angel Tree event. The purpose of this event is to provide gifts to the children of families in need within our parish bound-ary. We have selected the families from those we serve. If you are aware of a family in need in our parish, please encourage them to call our SVDP cell at 512-415-4012. We would also like to take this opportunity to

thank the generosity of our parishioners who have been so faithful in their prayers for our mission to serve the poor and have been so generous with their financial assistance. We, along with our neighbors in need, will keep you in our prayers.

You will see the Angel Tree displayed the weekend following Thanksgiving. Thank you for your continued support!

Are you wanting to learn more about our faith? Are you just sitting in your car waiting for your kids to get out of religious education classes? Take that leap of faith because we have something for you. We are excited to announce this years’ theme for the Adult Faith Formation classes. We will be studying Jeff Cavins’, Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom. Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom, builds on The Bible Timeline and Matthew by showing how Christ›s Kingdom on earth is empowered to carry out His work in the world. The book of Acts shows the Church, enlivened by the Holy Spirit, teaching, preaching, healing, and restoring outcasts in the same way that Jesus did on earth. The Acts of the Apostles provides a historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament. Paul’s letters in particular come alive in a new way when they are read within the context of the Acts narrative. This will be offered on Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. in English with Anna Lara in the Knights of Columbus room (PAC301) and in Spanish with Art Lara in room 208 in the Education building.

On Sundays, we will have a Spanish session at 9:45 a.m. in room 208 of the Education Building, on Dios Te Salve, Reina Y Madre: La Biblia y La Virgen Maria presented by Martha Calderon. Currently, we are seeking a Catechist to present Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom program in English.

This is open to everyone come join us for this year’s Adult Faith Formation Program. Classes will begin the week of September 24th and follow the RE calendar for the year. For more information please contact the RE Office.

Estamos muy contentos de poder anunciar el tema de este año para las clases de Formación de Fe para Adultos. Estudiaremos los actos, por Jeff Cavins’: la Propagación del Reino.
