*BACKGROUND
Magcaraguit is the only island barangay in the Municipality ofDimasalang
Composed of 4 islets namely Deagan, Hamorawon, Rakit-dakit and
Magcaraguit
These islands contains vast wealth of natural resources:
4 species of mangrove, 13 species of seaweeds,6 species of sea grasses, fishes, and corals
Provide livelihood to local residents and entire Municipality of
Dimasalang; rich fishing ground

*BACKGROUND
In constant threat due to dynamite fishing, cyanide fishing,compressor fishing, encroachment of commercial fishing vessel
Which resulted to the decrease of sessile marine organisms such as
Giant Clam locally known as Tilang and slow moving organism such
as Sea Cucumber Balat
Based on PCRA conducted on April 2009, the data showed only 16.5%
healthy live coral, 0% soft coral, 27.5% dead corals, 36.25% dead
corals with algae.
Condition of coral cover rated as poor
Fish density was only 24 fish species per 1500m2
