Reflection Today is Palm Sunday, the day we hear the passion of Jesus. But this day is about much more than simply

reading or hearing the passion. This is the beginning of the time when we walk with Jesus in his sorrow, his fears and his suffering. So often when we come to Jesus, it’s all about us. Today, we accompany our friend and

try to witness with him and support him in his last days and hours. Most of all, we are invited to feel how deeply we are loved by Jesus – loved so much that he died for us.

Sacred Heart School Ace Reporters 2018 : Spreading the Faith through Writing

Patrick and Thomas M. have always enjoyed writing and playing sports. These twins have been Ace Re-porters for two years and they love the experience of writing about the Catholic faith not only in sports but also their school community. They are two of the eight Ace Reporters this year who were chosen for their academic and leadership qualities.

This year’s writers aim to do more than just write but to spread love of the poor and the most abandoned in our society, a Redemptorist charism.

Our Ace Reporters are: Avery B., Kaileigh M., Madeline R., Matthew M., Melina M., Jackson C.,

Patrick and Thomas M. (Three of the writers are not in the photo)

Wheels: A New Take on Catholic Education

Electives

Written by Patrick M., Grade 6, Ace Reporter

“Wheels” is one of my favorite subjects this year because

we learn a lot of different things entirely separate from the

rigorous academic subjects we have at Sacred Heart.

This year, our school offered three types of wheels.

In “Wheel Voges,” we do yoga and go to our Pre-K

buddies and help them with crafts and fun activities.

Ms.Voges, who is a very caring teacher, reminds us to be

always kind to everyone especially the younger students

in our school. Another wheel is “Wheel Daigle.” In

“Wheel Daigle,” we also go to Pre-K and do fun activities

with the younger students. We also learn how to play

chess and challenge one another. Sometimes, we watch

fun and educational videos. Finally, we have “Wheel

Bilodeau,” popularly known as EcoEagles. In EcoEagles,

Mrs. Bilodeau teaches students about nutrition, gardening,

and recycling to promote care for God’s gift of creation.

Eventually, the school aims to have a “green” program

that will stream into much bigger initiatives in leadership

and service.

Eucharist to the Homebound- Are you unable to come to Mass or more importantly receive Jesus in the Eucharist? The Ministers to the Sick would love to bring Jesus to you. Please call the Parish office 428-6426 to set up Home visitation.

Rosary request—Do you have

broken rosaries that you don’t know what to do with? Rosaries, once blessed should be disposed of properly. We would like your old and broken rosaries to repurpose into new Sacramental. Please bring to parish office. God Bless you.

The crowd followed the Leprechaun’s trail to the KofC St. Patrick’s Day Dinner/Dance and found the proverbial Pot O’ Gold. Everyone enjoyed a fun evening of

merriment with a great meal, great music, much dancing and fellowship. A sincere and heartfelt thank you, is extended to the ladies of the CCW and the members of the NSB High School Key Club who worked tirelessly to plate and serve meals to our guests. Stay tuned and look for our next event in the near future!

Good Friday of the Passion of the Lord

March 30th @ 3:00pm

G ood Friday is the one day in the year that no Masses are celebrated. In remembrance of Jesus’ suffering and death on the Cross,

Catholics gather for a Communion service and to Venerate the Holy Cross. Good Friday is also a day of fasting and abstinence. Fasting is obligatory from age 18 until age 59, unless fasting jeopardizes your health (for example, pregnant or nursing mothers, those with chronic illness like diabetes, etc.). When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. All Catholics from age 14 on up should abstain from eating meat.

Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God,

smitten by him and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions,

he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace

was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." Isa 53:4-5

Heavenly Father, We could never thank our military men and women enough for their courageous service and sacrifice to our country and its people. Show us ways in our communities, churches, and families to thank and love them better. Keep and protect these heroes and their

families, in the powerful name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

ALUMINUM POP TAB COLLECTION

The POP TAB collection period for 2017 – 2018 has

ended, and a hearty thanks to all of you who

have saved

and donated your POP TAB’s. We had

another banner year, filling two tubs and

one pillow case. Watch for a new picture to

be posted on the bulletin board in the

vestibule at St. Gerard. The collection

period for 2018 - 2019 has begun, so I ask

you to please start saving again. The Ronald

McDonald Houses in Orlando depends greatly on these

yearly collections, donated by the schools participating in

this program. These collections help offset the cost to shel-

ter, comfort and care for the families as they wait for their

child to become healthy again. Our collection is funneled

through Chisholm Elementary School in NSB.

“There are different gifts but the same Spirit, there are different ministries but the

same Lord . . . To each person the manifestation of the spirit is given for the

common good.” Every person is called to contribute to the liturgy in a manner suited to his or her unique talents. It takes the help of many people serving in a variety of different liturgical ministries to help the liturgy flow smoothly and enable the participation of the assembly. At the present time, there is a serious need for volunteers in all ministries at St. Gerard’s. We invite you to prayerfully reflect on the gifts God has given you and consider volunteering your talents for one of our ministries.

Training: Training is provided to help you get started in all the listed ministries.

Scheduling: Liturgical ministers are scheduled at the Mass time of their preference as often as fits their schedule and are asked to arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled Mass begins.

Contact: Please see the list of ministries below. Call the leader of the ministry you are interested in to volunteer or for further information.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR

MINISTRIES AT ST. GERARD’S

WE NEED YOUR HELP . . . To keep the Sacred Heart & St. Gerard roster up to date-

In order to better serve our parish we strive to maintain a church roster that is as accurate as possible. We ask that our registered parishioners call the parish office at 386-428-6426 to inform us when changes to your information occur including name, address, telephone number, a move out of the parish, the death of a family member who is a registered parishioner, etc.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
