FROM FATHER CHUCK HAPPY EASTER! We enter the season with renewed vigor a er Lent, hopefully having experienced a deep-ening in our faith and in our rela onship with the Lord. I hope you were able to par cipate in the liturgies of the Sacred Triduum which also helps frame the celebra on of Easter for all of us. This week we are in the Octave of Easter, which means that we celebrate every day like Easter Sunday itself. Actually, the celebra on begins with the Easter Vigil on Saturday night and con nues like one, huge fes val, celebra ng Jesus’ victory over death, the conquering of sin, and eternal life! A special welcome to all our visitors today. Easter o en brings Catholics who don’t nor-mally come to church, some Chris ans who want to mark this glorious day with prayer and others who may just be curious to see what we Catholics are up to on this day. All are wel-come! This year we also are welcoming back those who were regularly a part of church life but who have been away due to COVID and are venturing back for the first me. So good to see you! It also is with great joy that we welcome six new Catholics into the Church at the Easter Vigil. Maria Giovanna Berbera, Cristal Alejandra Berbera, & Sokol Pashay are fully ini ated in the Church with Bap sm, Confirma on and Holy Eucharist and William Conrad, David Howton, & Steven Purcell, coming from other Chris an backgrounds, make a Profession of Catholic Faith and receive Confirma on. Addi onally, Marlene Garcia Fernandez & Luz Elena Damas Diaz, already Catholics, received their Confirma on. Congratula ons to all of you and welcome! We look forward to celebra ng with you every week and to your involvement in our parish community. If anyone visi ng or anyone you know may be interested in becoming Catholic or if you are Catholic but have not received all your sacraments, please call the parish office to talk to one of the priests or James Rizza, our coordinator for RCIA, the Rite of Chris an Ini a on of Adults to learn more. I want to thank all those who played extra roles over this past week in the planning and celebra on of our liturgies. Thank you to all who worked on the changing environments from day to day, star ng with Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord up to today as Easter begins! In Holy Week, as the Church commemorates the saving events of Jesus, we move from joy to despair to thankfulness to lamenta on to wonder and, finally, to the most profound joy of all in resurrec on. Our efforts are to reflect the events in some manner with the environment in the worship space, which helps all of us to pray. Our team is wonderful in their crea vity and commitment! I also want to thank all our liturgical ministers, many of whom are doing dou-ble or triple duty during these mes of health restric ons. Our singers and musicians also put in extra hours of prepara on and prac ce. Thanks and blessings to one and all!

Fr. Lucio will be taking some me off this week and so we welcome Fr. Norm King who will be assis ng with a couple of weekday Masses and Fr. Tony Vercellone who will preside on the weekend. Our “re red” priests are always such a great help so we can get away, so a nice “thank you” to them too and welcome back! For those who have not yet done so, I hope that many of you will take advantage of the opening of COVID vaccines everyone over 16. I know some of you may not be able to take the vaccine for medical reasons but, for those who can, I want to encourage you to follow up. Along with those who suffered through the virus, we are slowly developing that “herd” im-munity through these vaccines and, prayerfully soon, we will be able to safely li more re-stric ons. We are all experiencing that “COVID fa gue” but I’m hearing more & more stories of people connec ng again with elderly rela ves and folks venturing out in travel. Let us con-

nue to remain vigilant as we recover from the pandemic, both locally and globally. We con-nue to pray daily for all those at risk, all those suffering and all those looking for work.

Let us give thanks on this glorious day for the gi of Jesus Christ, Word made flesh, who chose to come among us to live this life and teach us a new way to eternal life. FELICES PASCUAS Entramos en la temporada con renovado vigor después de la Cuaresma, con suerte ha-biendo experimentado una profundización en nuestra fe y en nuestra relación con el Señor. Espero que haya podido par cipar en las liturgias del Triduo Sagrado , que también ayuda a enmarcar la celebración de la Pascua para todos nosotros. Esta semana estamos en la Octava de Pascua, que significa que celebramos todos los días como el propio Domingo de Pascua. En realidad, la celebración comienza con la Vigilia pascual el Sábado por la noche y con núa como una gran fiesta, celebrando la victoria de Jesús sobre la muerte, la conquista del peca-do, y la vida eterna. Damos una bienvenida especial a nuestros visitantes. La Pascua a menudo trae católicos que normalmente no vienen a la iglesia, algunos cris anos que quieren marcar este glorioso día con oración y otros que pudieran tener curiosidad por ver lo que los católicos estamos ha-ciendo en este día. ¡Todos son bienvenidos! Computers and mobile devices can be helpful tools for children and teens to learn and grow in faith and fellow-ship. Unfortunately, the digital world is also full of unsafe and explicit content. You wouldn’t hand a teen the car keys without first teaching them how to drive. The same should be true for using technology— teach them how to keep themselves and others safe while using it.

Las computadoras y los dispositivos móviles pueden ser herramientas útiles para que los niños y adolescentes aprendan y crezcan en fe y compañerismo. Desafortuna-damente, el mundo digital también está lleno de contenido inseguro y explícito. No le entregarías a un adolescente las llaves del auto sin enseñarles primero a conducir. Lo mismo debería ser cierto para el uso de la tecnología: en-séñales a mantenerse a sí mismos y a los demás a salvo mientras la usan.

ALÉGRENSE Y REGOCÍJENSE Durante los primeros tres o cuatro siglos del cris anismo, si se le preguntaba a un cris ano el nombre de las fiestas de la Iglesia, su respuesta habría sido una mirada de sorpresa porque había una sola fiesta: la Resurrección del Señor. Cada domingo era una celebración de la gran fiesta. A pesar de que nuestro calendario ene ahora muchas fiestas hermosas y santas, con-

nuamente debemos ser llamados de nuevo al hecho de que todas estas fiestas existen a cau-sa de la fiesta del paso (Pascua) de Cristo de la muerte a la vida. El Salmo de hoy proclama este mensaje así: “Este es el día”. No es uno de muchos días, pero es el día de todos los días, el que da a todos los demás su origen, propósito, significado y des no. Escuchen con aten-ción el discurso de Pedro en Hechos recordando la Pasión, las palabras del apóstol Pablo y al recuento que hacen María Magdalena, Juan y Pedro al encontrar la tumba vacía, y oirán las obras maravillosas que Dios ha hecho para nosotros en Cristo. ¡Alégrense y regocíjense!

REJOICE AND BE GLAD During the first three or four centuries of Chris anity, if you asked a Chris an to name the feast days of the church, your answer would have been a puzzled stare, for there was only one feast: the Resurrec on of the Lord. Every Sunday was a feast celebra ng the one great feast. Even though our calendar now has many beau ful and holy feasts, we must con nually be called back to the fact that all these other feasts exist because of the feast of Christ’s pass-over from death to life. The psalm today proclaims this message well: “This is the day.” It is not one of many days, but it is the day of all days, the one that gives all the others their origin, purpose, meaning, and des ny. Listen carefully to Peter’s speech in Acts with its recollec on of the Passion, to the words of the apostle Paul, and to the account of Mary Magdalene, John, and Peter finding the empty tomb, and you will hear the many wonderful works that God has done for us through Christ.
