WHAT’S A STEM?

Stem of a verb is what is left after the last 2 letters are dropped from the infinitive.

There are lots of stem changing verbs. We will focus on u-ue right now.

Jugar (to play)

Yo =JuegoNOSOTROS=Jugamos

Tu= Juegas VOSOTROS-=Jugáis

Ēl/Ella/Usted=Juega Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes=Juegan

Where do you see the U-UE change?

USING JUGAR

When you use ‘jugar’ with the name of a sport, use ‘jugar al+sport

Example: Yo juego al fútbol americano.

Nosotros jugamos al voleibol.

STEM-CHANGING VERB-TYPE #2-E--IE

PERDER is a stem changing verb in which the e changes to ie in all forms except nosotros and vosotros.
