I am a Honduran painter. I started out as a graphic designer actually that is what I studied in College. But my passion has always been painting. So since 2012 I became a full time painter.

My work is characterized as dramatic, mystical and magical with a hint of whimsy. My art is a stylized form of imagery where the characters and designs embody an unusual and sensual flair with a touch of ethnic and cultural charm - whisking the viewer into a creative world of color, depth and feeling.

I see my work as the portrayal of a world that exists somewhere between heaven and earth. When I paint I see these women, I see them walking like if they were underwater with their hair flowing in slow motion. They exist, I see them. It is a magical realm that most of us can´t see but that doesn´t mean it doesn´t exist.

I am inspired by the women in my family through generations. Their stories are so rich, complex and some of them are almost surreal. I try to create a “world” populated by the magical presence of these women. I also like to work with female archetypes, representing them with my personal stamp.I also believe Art is the manifestation of the divine within each one of us.

My family is filled with strong, intelligent, educated and confident women and that is what I always try to portray in my paintings. In a way, I paint the women in my family. They all have intense eyes and strong opinions.

I want to leave a mark in this world through my work. I want to try to broaden the way for future generations of women artists in my country.

In a world full of evil and darkness, I want my paintings to bring light to people. I want people to forget about everything that´s wrong with the world for those brief minutes they appreciate one of my paintings.

Soy pintora hondureña. Empecé como diseñadora gráfica, de hecho, eso es lo que estudié en la universidad. Pero mi pasión siempre ha sido la pintura. Pero fue en el 2012 cuando me convertí en pintora a tiempo completo.

Mi trabajo se caracteriza por ser dramático, místico y mágico con un toque de fantasía. Mi arte es una forma estilizada de imaginería donde los personajes y diseños incorporan un toque inusual y sensual con un toque de encanto étnico y cultural - batiendo al espectador en un mundo creativo de color, profundidad y sentimiento.

Veo mi trabajo como la representación de un mundo que existe en algún lugar entre el cielo y la tierra. Cuando pinto veo a estas mujeres, las veo caminando como si estuvieran bajo el agua con su cabello fluyendo en cámara lenta. Ellas existen, las veo. Es un reino mágico que la mayoría de nosotros no puede ver, pero eso no significa que no exista.

Me inspiran las mujeres de mi familia de todas las generaciones. Sus historias son tan ricas, complejas y algunas de ellas son casi surrealistas. Intento crear un “mundo” poblado por la presencia mágica de estas mujeres. También me gusta trabajar con arquetipos femeninos, rep-resentándolos con mi sello personal. También creo que el arte es la manifestación de lo divino dentro de cada uno de nosotros.

Mi familia está llena de mujeres fuertes, inteligentes, educadas y seguras, y eso es lo que siem-pre trato de retratar en mis pinturas. De alguna manera, pinto a las mujeres de mi familia. Todas tienen ojos intensos y opiniones fuertes.

Quiero dejar una marca en este mundo a través de mi trabajo. Quiero intentar ampliar el camino para las futuras generaciones de mujeres artistas en mi país.

En un mundo lleno de maldad y oscuridad, quiero que mis pinturas iluminen a las personas. Quiero que las personas olviden todo lo que está mal en el mundo por esos breves minutos que aprecian una de mis pinturas.

Kateřina Bohač Linares is a Czech-Venezuelan artist who founded Latin Art Gallery in the Czech Republic in order to promote the best of Latin American and international art in Central Europe.
