Verbo GO
El verbo go significa "ir" en español. Ahora voy a dar unas cuantas pistas sobre la forma de utilizar
este verbo en diferentes situaciones.
Go significa ir de un lado a otro. Normalmente diremos "go to" cuando queramos decir "ir a",
pero excepcionalmente decimos simplemente go + el lugar . Estas son las excepciones más
notables:
Go home Ir a casa I go home after work.
Go downstairs/upstairs Ir al piso de abajo/arriba When I watch a horror film and get scared, I go
upstairs and sleep with my sister.
Go away Irse a otro lado He was bothering me so I told him to go away.
Go abroad Irse al extranjero I went abroad to study English.
Go downtown Ir al centro (de la ciudad) We're going downtown tonight, are you coming?
Go in/inside, go out/outside Entrar (al interior), salir (al exterior) We went outside because it was
sunny and warm in the garden.
Go there/somewhere/anywhere/nowhere Ir allí/a algún lado/a cualquier lado/a ningún lado I need to
go somewhere, I'm so bored!
Go suele ir con preposiciones además de to, para indicar la dirección en la que vamos. Ejemplos:
He went into the room. (entrar)
We went out of the building. (salir)
She went up the stairs. (subir)
Joe went down the ladder. (bajar)
Para indicar que vamos a realizar una actividad, muchas veces utilizamos go + verbo en -ing,
I go shopping at least once a month.
I go cycling very often.
I love going sightseeing .
We're going fishing today.
Uno de los usos más notables del verbo go es para hablar del futuro -> be going to.
I'm going to the cinema tonight. She's going to study for her exam.
