Council (CONACYT for its acronym in Spanish) and the
Ministry of Economy (SE for its acronym in Spanish) grant-
ed the certification for the Knowledge Transfer Office (OT
for its acronym in in Spanish) to the IIE. Consequently, this
will strengthen the relationship with the industrial and
services sector, to promote projects with innovation con-
tent and where the ultimate goal is to reach national and
international markets.
Certified OT will give the Institute the opportunity to de-
velop new relations with manufacturing, engineering and
project development companies, as well as universities
and other research centers with complementary capabil-
ities. In order to accomplish certification, the processes for
protection of intellectual property and technology transfer
were reviewed and restructured according to internation-
al best practices. This opens an opportunity to build closer
and more productive relationships with entrepreneurs and
investors who have decided to adopt the same national
strategy: to promote scientific research and technology
development along with innovation (R&D+i).

new challenges for scientific advancement and na-
tional technological development.
In order to revive the Cooperation Agreement signed
between INER-IIE in July 2012, and to find specific top-
ics of mutual interest on which both institutions could
potentially work together, the National Institute for
Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (INER ) of Ec-
uador was received by IIE.
IIE gave presentations at the “11th Technology Day” or-
ganized by the Canadian Embassy in Mexico. On this
occasion, there was important interaction with repre-
sentatives of various Canadian consultants within the
key aerospace, capital goods and energy sectors.

resPonsabilidad social
stewardship. This is why the actions of Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) performed in the institution, through
interventions of the social, cultural and educational policy,
focus primarily on its stakeholders.
IIE is concerned about the overall health of its staff, and is
thus motivated to participate in the programs and activi-
ties of occupational health as “health breaks,” “physical ac-
tivity,” “transformation of eating habits” and “health care:
assessment, detection and medical guidance.”
Environmental care and protection is of vital interest to IIE,
so the habit of separating PET bottles and cans is promot-
ed. The annual campaign to collect used batteries is very
well received. All the collected material is delivered to the
Secretariat for Sustainable Environmental Management of
the State Government of Morelos. The purpose is that this
habit is transferred between the employees’ homes and
their families, creating a culture of care and environmental
protection.
In its role as a promoter of science, technology and innova-
tion, IIE seeks to share knowledge of its human resources, so
elementary school students, as well as handicap care cen-
ters, are given the opportunity to know the IIE history and
endeavor, through its museum and guidance talks provid-
ed by research staff, who present information on topics
such as technology development and virtual reality, high-
lighting the scope of such projects for the benefit of society.
