Plato – The Symposium
• According to Greek mythology, humans were originally created with four arms, four legs and a head with two faces. • Fearing their power, Zeus split them into two separate parts,
condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves.
Jim and Jim• Jim Lewis and Jim Springer were separated at birth, when they were put up for adoption in 1940 and met for the first time when they were 39.• It turns out that the name Jim was actually given to each of them independently,
by their respective adoptive parents• Both men had married twice—first to women named Linda, and then to women
named Betty.• Both had childhood dogs named Toy. Their sons’ names were James Allen and
James Alan.• Both worked as sheriff’s deputies, drank the same beer, smoked the same
cigarettes, and drove the same Chevrolet.
Conjoined Twins:
Margaret and Mary Gibb• Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, in 1912• Their parents did not want them exhibited or exploited nor did they
want the twins separated.• At age 14, Margaret and Mary performed on the vaudeville stage and
with travelling circuses for the next couple of decades• After one of them got engaged, they lived a quiet life until 1966 when
Margaret was diagnosed with terminal cancer.• Even then, the Gibb twins refused to be separated.• They both died within minutes of each other in 1967.
But what if there was a problem coming together?
