Potential problems students may have with the language: If students have any difficulty to understand the new vocabulary, the T will have flashcards to show them. If any activity takes more time, we will play the last game/activity but in a shorter period of time.

Assessment: the new vocabulary will be assessed in an activity of recognition.

Procedure: Routine (3 minutes)

(The students are always sitting down on the floor waiting for the teacher) The teacher will greet the students: “Hello children! And she will encourage students to answer: “Hello!” She will tell them: “My name is Miss Nadia and I am very happy to be here with you” while she mimes the mood and points at them. Then, she will ask them, “How are you today? Are you happy? Are you sad?” And she’ll encourage them to answer YES or NO. (While the T asks these questions, she will show them two flashcards and mime the moods).

She will ask ss to hold up their hands and sing the routine hello song. Then, the Teacher will ask them: How are you today? And she will encourage them to answer “fine”. The T will tell them: “Now I want you to say hello to our friend!” Warm – up ( 4 minutes) – prediction time

(The class has a teddy bear puppet which the ss love! The T will show ss the puppet and encourage ss to greet the teddy bear. The puppet will tell ss: “I will tell you a story, a fantastic story!” and the teacher will show ss the following picture:

The T will tell them that we are going to listen to a story about Teddy Bear and his first day at..........! and she will encourage ss to predict the story, she will guide them by asking some questions such as: “Do you think that this story is about Teddy Bear’s first day at his house? at a shopping mall? At school? After the ss answer she will say: “Yes! It is about Teddy Bear’s first day at school”

Presentation (6 minutes) – story telling.

The T will tell ss: “Now is time for a story!” and she will show them a picture (“quiet please”) and stick it on the wall. Then, she will tell the story to the class and while she is doing it she will show them each picture to stick it on the wall, and she will also show them real school objects when they are named on the story (she’ll show them a school bag, a pencil case inside of it, a pencil and a rubber inside the pencil case). To narrate the story, she will use different tones of voice emphasizing the school objects vocabulary names and pronunciation.

(all the pictures will be coloured)

“One day, Teddy Bear was at school and he met a friend, she was Gloria. Gloria said to Teddy Bear: What a fantastic school bag!” and he smiled. Can you show me what you have inside? Yes, he said. He opened the school bag and he took out a pencil case. Gloria said: What a fantastic pencil case! Can you show me what you have inside? Yes, he said. He opened the pencil case and he took out a pencil. Gloria said: What a fantastic pencil! Can you show me Anything else? Yes, he said. He showed her a rubber. Gloria said: What a fantastic rubber! You are fantastic Teddy Bear! And Teddy Bear was very happy with his new friend, Gloria.” The T will ask ss: “Do you like the story? Ok, now I need your help!” Development Activity 1 (6 minutes) – checking comprehension. In order to check comprehension and to let ss practice the new vocabulary, the T will pick ttwo ss to the front of the class to work with the same story but with new materials. First, the T will show ss the pictures of Gloria and Teddy Bear and ask them: “Who are they?” the T will encourage ss to answer: “Gloria and Teddy Bear”. She will do the same procedure with the school objects cards. Then, she will start narrating the story again but she will not say the name of the school objects, and she will ask: “What object is number 1?”, she will encourage ss to answer: “It is a........” and the chosen students have to pick up the correct flashcard card and stick it on the wall, next to the bear pictures. We will complete this activity all together, so the T will elicit from ss the names of the school objects (the T will pay special attention to the main vocabulary pronunciation in order to correct them if it is necessary). Activity 2 (5 minutes) – game.

Page 4: Primer periodo planificacion 1 - nasencio

For students to practice with the main vocabulary, we will play a game. The T will explain ss that we are going to sing the Teddy Bear rhyme but when she says “stop” they have to become as statues. Let’s practice one time! Then, we will do it one more time but when she says ”stop” she will show them a school object card for them to say its name (“It is a ............”) and she will also aks them: “What number is it?! And encourage them to answer: “it is........” according to the story. She will encourage ss to answer the following questions: Is this a pencil? What number is the pencil? She will encourage ss to answer: “yes, it is/no, it isn’t” and then, she will stick the card on the correct place and we will keep playing in order to complete the sequence (the T will pay special attention to the main vocabulary pronunciation in order to correct them if it is necessary).

Teddy Bear rhyme: Teddy bear, Teddy bear, Turn around

Teddy bear, Teddy bear, Touch the ground.

Teddy bear, Teddy bear, Jump up high

Teddy bear, Teddy bear, Touch the sky.

The T will tell ss: “Excellent! We have finished! It’s time to say goodbye!”

Closure (3 minutes)

The T will ask ss to sit down on a circle again and we will sing and mime the rhyme to say

goodbye: Bye! It’s time to say goodbye (finger pointing to the watch), see you next class- bye, bye,

bye, bye (we will blow some kisses).
