8. ¿Qué debo hacer si el alambre no se mantieneenganchado en los clips (desenganche espontáneo)?El Sistema de Aparatología SmartClip™ está programadopara soltar el alambre de arco en caso de que las fuerzassobre los clips se tornen demasiado altas (ver lasiguiente tabla). Si esto ocurriera, existen las dosopciones siguientes:

• Cambiar el tamaño del alambre de arco para que elalambre quede colocado en todos los clips.

• Usar técnicas de ligamiento estándar según sea necesario.

9. ¿Es requerido usar los Brackets Molares SmartClip™

con el sistema?El uso de brackets molares SmartClip proporcionabeneficios adicionales al Sistema SmartClip y esrecomendado pero no es requerido. Con este sistemausted puede usar sus tubos molares estándar con bandao de cementación directa.

10. ¿Cuál instrumento se recomienda para reposicionar elbracket SmartClip?Cuando retire los brackets SmartClip parareposicionarlos, se recomienda usar el Instrumento pararemover brackets contenido en el Kit de Instrumentospara remover brackets (ref 444-761) de 3M Unitek.Advertencia: Tenga el cuidado adecuado en el procesode remoción de brackets. como una menor fricción, lo que permite mayores intervalos de tiempo entre citas.

• Aplique primero las ligaduras y luego coloque elalambre de arco por encima (ver Figura 3). Al aplicarlas ligaduras debajo de la protuberancia, sin tocar elalambre de arco, usted permitirá que el alambre dearco se mueva en estado pasivo en el bracket,mientras obtiene la apariencia que el paciente desea.

THE SMARTCLIP™ SELF-LIGATING APPLIANCE SYSTEM

SELF-LIGATING FOR INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY

As a passive system, SmartClip self-ligating appliances inherently reduce friction

for improved sliding mechanics, allowing archwires to work with greater

efficiency as compared to active systems. Clinical experience over the years has

shown that a passive system may permit longer appointment intervals. You may

even find that additional efficiencies are gained during the leveling/aligning and

closing mechanics phases.

If you need an active system at some point in the treatment, a familiar twin

bracket design permits use of traditional ligation methods, on a per-tooth or

full-arch basis. This results in a complete system for the control you desire.

With no closures to move, archwires are simple to engage with a specially designed

SmartClip™ Appliance Hand Instrument. Initial light archwires can be engaged

with only a gloved finger. Using the dual-purpose SmartClip Appliance Hand

Instrument for removal, even larger finishing archwires are easily disengaged.

The SmartClip Appliance Hand Instrument uses reciprocal force and cams against

the face of the bracket, minimizing patient discomfort, and also avoiding potential

bond failures associated with more difficult archwire removal processes.

THERE’S INTELLIGENCE IN THE CLIP

Engineered from nickel-titanium, which has an intrinsic memory for shape and

force, the SmartClip™ Bracket self-ligating mechanism secures the archwire in

place, yet is specially calibrated to release the archwire if forces exceed a

predetermined level. This helps assure that force levels recommended for

biocompatible tooth movement are not exceeded, therefore promoting efficient

tooth movement with less patient discomfort.

With SmartClip self-ligating brackets, archwire changes are fast and simple. The

SmartClip bracket has no sliding closures or active clips to retain the wire.

SmartClip™ Bracket System TechnologyThe first truly self-ligating bracket, SmartClip brackets hold archwires in place without ligatures and

each is programmed to release the wire when force exceeds a predetermined level. The result is less

patient discomfort and more efficient treatment. For maximum bonding efficiency, choose 3M Unitek

APC™ II Adhesive pre-coating or APC™ PLUS Adhesive pre-coating with color changing adhesive and

Exclusive SmartClip Molar BracketsThe SmartClip system includes, at your option, SmartClip molar brackets. As with all SmartClip

brackets, SmartClip molar brackets permit easy archwire insertion. Distal anchorage bends can be made

prior to insertion, thus reducing the opportunity for molar bond failures associated with

intra-oral bending. In addition, when using the SmartClip mandibular molar bracket, occlusal

interference is greatly reduced by eliminating occlusal tie-wings.
