INTRODUCCIÓNImagina un mundo en donde cambiar de cuerpo sea como cambiar de ropa. En donde las enfermedades terminales en rea-lidad no sean terminales. En donde el término “feo” no exista.Y así es. Estamos en el año 2077, el ser humano ha creado mu-chísimas cosas a lo largo del tiempo. Ahora es posible comuni-carse con la gente a través de un tipo de “manos libres” que no requiere oprimir botón alguno, sino que funciona con coman-dos de voz. Ya son comunes también los hologramas en vivo. Pero esto no se compara con el último avance cientí�co-médico que ya está al alcance de todos, el trasplante no quirúrgico de conciencia. El procedimiento es muy fácil: sólo tienes que esco-ger tu nuevo cuerpo, un modelo con cerebro pero sin memoria, y lo único que hay que hacer es pasar tus recuerdos mediante un casco plagado de electrodos, que está conectado con el nuevo cuerpo. Al cerebro del cuerpo nuevo se le inyectan unos químicos para que reciba correctamente los recuerdos; como es un cerebro más joven, tiene la capacidad de regenerarse, así que no te preocupes con tu nuevo cerebro, porque no va a sufrir daño alguno en el procedimiento.Los efectos secundarios pueden ser pérdida de memoria tem-poral, desorientación, fatiga y mareos. Pero estos efectos se van desvaneciendo con el tiempo, ya que después del trasplante, los pacientes deben tomar unos medicamentos en forma de in-yecciones que le ayudarán a recuperarse rápidamente.

ANNIE

Hoy cumplo 11 años. Son las 8 de la mañana del sábado 9 de abril. Mamá y papá entran a mi cuarto. Traen en sus manos una torre de panqueques, servida en mi plato favorito, y una vela en su cúspide. Me dicen cuánto me aman y lo especial que soy.Después de haber desayunado, me piden que baje al comedor. Al hacerlo, me ofrecen el asiento del extremo y se sientan a mi lado, mamá a la izquierda y papá a la derecha. Mamá le empieza a hacer gestos extraños a papá, como si le estuvie-ra recordando que debe decirme algo. Él asiente con la cabeza, mama sonríe mientras se humedecen sus ojos. Toman mis manos y me dicen que conserve la calma (se nota que están ansiosos). Papá dice que han encontrado una alternativa para que pueda vivir, ya que hasta el momento no se ha encontrado cura alguna contra el cáncer. Dice que la solución es muy extrema, pero aun así las probabili-dades de que falle son muy pocas. Ese momento fue el más feliz de lo poco que he vivido. Sé que papá y mamá se-guían hablándome porque podía ver cómo sus labios se movían, pero no era capaz de escucharlos. Todo se nublaba a mi alrededor. Sólo pensaba en que podría salir a jugar con mis amigos del colegio, en que dejaría de vomitar por el tratamiento con quimio, en que por �n me haría una trenza, en que por �n podría estar en el equipo de voleibol. Como respuesta sólo pude abrazarlos, abrazarlos como si no los fuera a abrazar nunca más; ese abrazo signi�có los miles de agrade-cimientos por todos los sacri�cios que ellos hicieron por mí.Así que esa misma tarde fui al médico, no quise esperar más. Fui a que me revisara y dijera que todo estaba bien. Me dijo que era una candidata perfecta, y progra-maron la intervención para el 7 de junio. Ese mismo día, me mostraron los cuerpos disponibles de acuerdo con mi edad y género: había niñas rubias, asiáticas, more-nas, pero eran todas muy bellas. Yo siempre he querido tener el cabello como el de Ellie Goulding, mi cantante favorita (cada vez que tengo la oportunidad de entrar a YouTube, veo el video de su canción Burn), así que escogí el cuerpo con el cabe-llo rubio. Desde ese momento no he dejado de contar los días que faltan para estar en mi nuevo cuerpo.Será mañana. Mañana por �n se harán realidad todos esos sueños, y podré calmar las ansias que me han estado acompañando por tantos años. Por �n volveré a saber que es la felicidad. Casi no logro dormirme, mis pensamientos acabaron con mi sueño. Estoy a pocas horas de dejar este cuerpo enfermo. Mi vista empieza a nublarse, y los sonidos a mí alrededor se escuchan cada vez más lejos. Me siento muy liviana, como si �otara. No veo ni escucho cosa alguna, sólo mis pensamien-tos.

EN LA FILA

Otro día igual al anterior. Estaba en la misma �la, con dos adelante y siete atrás. Todos con el uniforme rojo brillante de nuestra división. No nos miramos, habla-mos o reímos. Sólo vemos nuestro reverso, la parte trasera de nuestra carcasa, a excepción del primero, que tiene como panorama una de las columnas es-tructurales de nuestro centro de operaciones. Con seguridad nuestros vecinos de las plantas superiores estarán así, en sus �las, viéndose las espaldas.

No podemos movernos siquiera. Únicamente escu-char el tic tac del reloj de pared que nos acerca, cada vez más lentamente, al ruido del timbre. El timbre. Señal inequívoca de que vendrán aquéllos que sólo su dedo índice nos mueven a su antojo. Y vendrán, evidentemente, a movernos a su antojo. No creo que muchos seres en el mundo alcancen a comprender, siquiera a soportar, una verdadera sensación de tedio. Es inconcebible cómo en tantas partes, en tantos lugares, se rinde una honda pleitesía a la quie-tud.

Finalmente, después de varios siglos en mi mente, el timbre dio la bienvenida a ese grupo selecto de per-sonas a quienes servimos. Entraron rápidamente, ha-blando en voz muy alta, incluso riendo. Se veían des-preocupados, no como nosotros. Se escuchó una voz:

-Continuaremos con lo que vimos el día de ayer. Por favor, muéstrenme el número tres.

Los primeros nos preparamos para que nos movie-ran con sus dedos índices. Sentimos el empujón hacia el frente. Uno. Respiro profundamente. Dos. Cierro los ojos. Tres. El dedo me empuja con fuerza hacia adelante. Choco con mi compañero. Otra vez quietos. Debo esperar a que reinicien el ejercicio para volver a mi lugar. Ése es el destino que nos espera a las piezas de un ábaco.

En clase con la profesora Marcela Gómez, yo no entendía bien eso de las funciones lineales, cuadráticas y cúbicas, y había tenido que pedir nivela-ción. Como la profe sabe que a mí me gusta la música, empezó a hablarme del plano cartesiano como si fuera un pentagrama, y empezó a represen-tar las funciones lineales, cuadráticas y cúbicas en ese nuevo pentagrama, para preguntarme al �nal: “¿Cómo suenan estas funciones?”

Fue más fácil responder a esa pregunta, y entonces le empecé a describir los pianos, pianíssimos, fortes y fortíssimos, y cómo los podía ver en las curvas que había en el papel. Con esto, la profe me empezó a decir que las funciones en el plano cartesiano y las partituras musicales eran lo mismo, en diferentes sistemas: representaciones de patrones entre números/no-tas. Y me invitó a que hiciera, con esas representaciones en el plano carte-siano, una pequeña melodía. Entonces hice esta “tarea” en GarageBand. ¡Aquí la tienen!

Mule Variation was born thanks to the great amount of free time I had at that time of my life and a curiosity for knowing if I was capable of creating an electronic music track without previous training. I have loved electronic music since I was in University, more than ten years ago. Since then I have heard many di�erent electronic genres, from the predictable pop trance to the deep and playful house, although nothing makes my feet feel so free and playful as a High-Tech Minimal set (except for a good and old salsa song, preferably from the 70’s). So anyway, one rainy afternoon, while pla-ying in my new MacBook (gift from daddy), I decided to check out Garage-Band, and boom, in a couple of weeks a few music productions were born under the name of spiral noodle. It was actually very easy, something I’ve admired about apple products, besides their look of course, is that they make things very easy and simple for everybody, any noodle can create an artistic production by using their products.

Keep safe on the Road to Aim towards a Safer Humanity

This work shows what 9th and 10th grade found about how to describe people's percep-tion of cultural issues on our mobility situations, while working on a campaign to show that being safe on the roads is an act of self-responsibility. This post is corresponding to the report we sent to the international contest “Your Ideas Your Initiatives” hosted by Re-nault.

We found that people have a bad perception of authority institutions related to mobility control and security assistance (National Police and Road Security Agents), saying that they are not doing their job of protecting people and assuring a safe road structure, but at the same time, a part of them want to be "forgiven" when they make a mistake in terms of a�ecting the security of drivers and pedestrians. Therefore, it is possible to say that our mindset is ready to judge others' actions and attitudes without mercy, but is soft to eva-luate our own mistakes and misconceptions, so there is no coherence in our thoughts and our actions, which reduces any possibility of having a proper road culture.

Then, according to the results, we started with the preparation of a strategy to make people rethink about their in�uence on the road security and the mobility. This campaign includes:

This project has been something new for us because, although we have the Road Security Project as an institutional initiative, we have not worked in order to being active agents of change in a daily situation. Normally as students, we think that those situations are away from us, so we do not care about them, when we are really a�ected in one way or another. This has been exciting and challenging. We hope that we can participate the next year!

Jostein Gaarder said once that “a good teacher should be a good storyteller”, and we teachers try every day to do so. But trust us, it is not so easy, not as we think at the beginning. Do you think that it is just about linking random words in an unbelievable speech? No way! That is a dis-cipline, which needs skilled and passionate people. It is more than a hobby, to be honest.In fact, one of the most important skills required in the ancient times was, precisely, storytelling: kings and emperors have storytellers in their sta�, to amuse their parties. We can go back, to �nd that our culture is based on oral tradition, on stories told by warriors and hunters to their families when they were back home. Some of us were used to hear stories by our grandparents before going to sleep, and we loved to imagine those.

Nowadays, we are living in a digital world, surrounded by several devices full of images, text, sounds, etc. Information is part of our daily life! So people have taken imagination out of their routine, because “it is not so necessary”. Well, we disagree! Imagination is one of the most important assets we have to create real learning experiences, since it allows the generation of creative, alternative ways to understand situations and solve pro-blems.Therefore, we teachers have decided to recreate a storytelling environment in our classrooms. That is why primary schoolers have being working on digital stories, 100% created by them, in which their understanding of their daily world, and how actions a�ect what is next for everyone, was displayed. Road Security and Mobility were the topics. You will enjoy them soon!

IT IS NOT SO EASY TO TELL A STORY

WHAT A SCIENTIST DREAMS ABOUT By Natalia Orduz

Good morning everybody. We are very excited to be able to show you what you have done on your Science, Math and Tecnology classes along this year. Not only because they represent all your efforts and hopes to have good grades, but also because they are the product of your own curiosity, your own creativity to solve problems and feel proud of being able to do so, your own brain work. And actually, that is what a scientist dreams about… A scientist wakes up in the morning with one question on his head and he passes all day long trying to answer to that question. But how many questions we ask throughout the day? “Papá, ¿me compras un celular nuevo?; Mamá, ¿me dejas ir este viernes a la fiesta?; ¿Será que me como una hamburguesa o el perro?; ¿pongo el título con lápiz o con lapicero?; ¿cómo estaremos afectando a las mariposas del colegio con nuestras actividades diarias?” So, as you can see, it's not always easy to solve all the questions we may have. Sometimes we are lucky and we can count with a team that can help us answer to those questions. So the days of the scientists are solved. But scientists also dream. Someone thought once we could wash our teeth so they would not fall off… now we do it at least three times per day. Other person once dreamt about the possibility of using a round object so we could take things easier from one place to the other… now we use wheels in almost every single thing of our daily lives. Someone once dreamt we could reach the stars… and now there we are. You dreamt about seeing your cars working with solar energy, others saw themselves answering to other’s questions, others dreamt about magnets transferring their energy and surprising us with the possible results. Some of you have amazing dreams you are not sharing today with us, but we all hope you fall in love with them so you can follow them and answer all your questions as the good scientists you all are. As scientists, all of us have been dreaming on watching you grow happy, watching you learn, watching you amaze with the science behind the objects that have changed the entire history. And today we feel so proud of seeing how that dream comes true. Since we have dreamt about this day, we have felt it and we have made it part of our lives. We really hope you enjoy of this beautiful unicorn students and teachers are showing to you today. Have fun!

HOW A SCIENTIST’S DREAMS COME TRUEBy Marcela Gómez

Good afternoon guys! I hope you have enjoyed this fair as much as we have. This has been one of our dreams, for sure, and now we are looking at it as the �rst ver-sion of the reality we want to build. Obviously, since good things must be shared, I want to share with you a short, basic checklist that will help you to start on the way to turn your dream true.

First, there is the dream you talked about this morning with Natalia. This is the �rst step: have a dream. And not just any dream, no. It must be persistent, becau-se you need to see it, you need to feel it. This is the only way you will believe it will become a real part of your life, and therefore, you will make it a part of your life.

Next, you need to observe it. How come? Yeah! You need to observe carefully, paying attention to details; these are the required ingredients for this endeavor. Then, you will understand what you really need to make it happen, since you could understand how everything works. Besides, details are easier to be analyzed individually, because they are susceptible to be understood with less elements involved. And yeah, of course, this is the next step.

You need to check if you have all what is needed to start. What do you need? Speci�c knowledge? Mastery to use a special device? A work team? A trip to somewhere? Who would you need to talk to? Who do you need to learn about those new ideas with? And so important: when do you need these to be ready? Your deadline is part of the motivation you need to start working on what you want. Because you have to work, of course.

Later, you must know what you need to do with all the previous elements requi-red. Individual analysis is similar to the preparation of each ingredient: the un-derstanding of what you have to do to make your recipe as best as possible, requires you to know if you need to chop, squeeze, grind, shred, or another, to get the best �avor of everything. Obviously, some of these preparations will not be simultaneous, but you will organize the sequence in which they will be made, in order to get the perfect timing.

When all the requests are ful�lled, it is time to put them together, mixing up according to the observation you made at the beginning, to get the best possi-ble result: everything interacting with everything in perfect harmony, and showing the best possible outcome at the end: your dream made real.

Oh! I forgot something: for this kind of dreams you need to know about slow cooking. Although your dream is warm, all the process needs time and patience. But at the end, it is worth it.
