Intensive investigative work from all police sources helped bring down the killers. However, a trucker, Ron Lancz, spotted the vehicle that was the home of the 2 snipers at a truck stop in the middle of the night. The 62 year old man, with only 5 long distance truck runs before retirement, blocked their vehicle with his truck and waited 20 minutes for the police to arrive. He knew the suspects were heavily armed, yet he did not move.The week before we had 50 truck drivers in one group and held a prayer meeting 20 miles from where this happened. We thought, I mean we knew, that the prayer was going to be answered. We knew that. Some time or another. Thats the way we believe.In the case of Lancz, you dont have to believe that prayer resulted in the snipers capture. A lot of police work went into just getting to that moment. But prayer can make us more aware, more willing to get involved, more apt to put ourselves on the line for what we profess to believe and those we are supposed to care about. In taking courage from prayer to act, we can solve more problems than realized. It may be easier to believe in the power of supernatural prayer, shown not in God reaching down to move mountains, but in moving us to care and act for something beyond ourselves.
